In all seriousness, this analysis just highlights how little variance there is in the strength of schedule even across small sample sizes. There are a lot of good teams in this league. That means we're going to end up playing a lot of good teams. The start of the season doesn't really strike me as "bizarrely" difficult, really.

There's far too many variables that will impact how we perform on the day to actually get that vexed about the timings of specific fixtures as I see it.

Don Pacifico you got to look at the context. An under pressure Arsenal side with a lot to prove losing points at the beginning of the season will amplify the noise especially on Arteta.

Anyway, last two seasons I knew after game 3 we wouldn’t win the title (2023/2024 we dropped points Fulham at home and last year Brighton at home - some games set the tone of the season especially the latter with all the BS that happened after).

Ultimately, if we have a slower start because of our fixture list, it does amplify the media noise but I'm not convinced it has a a significant impact (assuming it doesn't become a longer term trend).

Don Pacifico in the short term it’s going to amplify the pressure of us making signings. None of this let’s wait till August 31st BS. We need players bedded in for the 17th!

And even then, I think Arteta will believe he can win all matches he faces, even when the context is challenging.

Bottom line is we need to get off to a strong start like we did in 2022-2023 to build momentum.

Last season partly why we dropped off like we did was because we lost heart after a poor start coupled by City being shit (realising that we don’t have an excuse for not winning the title).
