Bloody tough start. But Christmas not too bad and both Liverpool games done with by early January. The last 4 games are ok but we have to still be in the mix at that stage. No easy games as they say.

Spurs with a tough start at home to Burnley too.

Most annoying thing here is that Chelsea and City have easy starts after the CWC.

In all seriousness, this analysis just highlights how little variance there is in the strength of schedule even across small sample sizes. There are a lot of good teams in this league. That means we're going to end up playing a lot of good teams. The start of the season doesn't really strike me as "bizarrely" difficult, really.

I always feel like everyone plays everyone twice so a tough run should in theory balance out with a nicer run at some other time. But this start should hopefully encourage the club to get business done early so any new additions are ready to go or we're going to be playing catchup immediately.

For me I don't really look at it as "hard" you want to win the title you have to navigate these fixtures and ultimately it's can we demonstrate a consistent high level across a number of fixtures we couldn't do that last year even when we got to the supposed " easier" runs that's what we will live or die by.

At least we play these first few games with no Europe. Playing Man Utd away after a gruelling CL tie whilst they have a free mid-week wouldn’t have been good.

A lot of big games being played very early on - almost unprecedented. Think Sky may be struggling and need extra subscriptions.

There's far too many variables that will impact how we perform on the day to actually get that vexed about the timings of specific fixtures as I see it.

Don Pacifico you got to look at the context. An under pressure Arsenal side with a lot to prove losing points at the beginning of the season will amplify the noise especially on Arteta.

Anyway, last two seasons I knew after game 3 we wouldn’t win the title (2023/2024 we dropped points Fulham at home and last year Brighton at home - some games set the tone of the season especially the latter with all the BS that happened after).

Can't tell if you're being serious as you always tell me context is irrelevant in terms of measuring success. 😉

Ultimately, if we have a slower start because of our fixture list, it does amplify the media noise but I'm not convinced it has a a significant impact (assuming it doesn't become a longer term trend).
