Don Pacifico didn’t see today’s game. Was visiting family then came home to see us 2-0 down at 35 minutes. Decided to walk the dog instead.

However what you’re saying to me points to a lack of courage and conviction, mainly from Arteta but it’ll also extend to the players. We’ve seen players take the easy out far too often this season. The tactics might be conservative at times but we need personal accountability too. Much easier to come back from 2-0 down at Anfield when there isn’t much riding on the game.

Tam judged purely on Arteta's post-match conference, his perspective is that the players didn't follow instruction in the first half. As RtC alluded, seemed genuinely annoyed.

Still avoiding the score here so just posting without reading anything. 75mins in now after skipping the first 40 mins or so following the spoilers. Not sure what went wrong first half but we've been really good second half. At least up until this point.

Edit: by the way, again, Merino is really poor on the ball. Guy just confuses himself and loses the ball and ends up laying on the ground while we get countered.

I've seen some clips of these comments and agree with the above. Those two have gone from refreshing change to an absolute joke in recent years. Both have got way too comfortable in their roles and think they can spout whatever the hell they want to create their own narrative.

He talked about Saliba being at fault for the goal and saying he needs Gabriel, Martinelli scored a free header while Van Dijk just watched him stroll past him, how come he doesn't mention that?

So just finished. Skipped the first but that was a really good second half. Martinelli did well up front. Actually gave Odegaard someone to look for and was a foot or so away from an assist a few times for the diagonal run. Defence didn't really have much of anything to do until the red card.

What went wrong first half? Only chance I saw for us on the first was that great freekick attempt. Saka should have done better or squared it.

He's always looked lumbering on the ball since we've signed him. Like everything about his on the ball ability is slow. Which is funny because those early video highlights doing the rounds of his backwards croquet move made it seem like he was a silky player.

He's a weird one for me.

Wouldn't trust him at 6. I'd rather Rice there and even him I don't think has the a ility to play the 6.
He's not really going to play much at 8 because Rice has the position, and if we were to move from Rice in that role then I'd rather a more creative player instead.
He's also done pretty well at 9 all things considered, but being backup to Havertz is one thing. Being backup to a new striker and Havertz is another.

I just don't know what his role in the team will be if we get the players were rumoured to be getting. Purely squad depth? Maybe hes just the 2025 version of Edu with more of a physical presence and less of a technical one.

I think Merino is depth, and experience. He's shown he's a great character with a very diverse set of skills. Main issue is that Havertz should be depth too, and the two are not dissimilar enough: neither is a higher variance, higher risk "cutting edge" type of player, because we've de-emphasised signing those.

Refreshing to see what a willing off ball runner can do for Odegaard.

Martinelli always plays well vs Liverpool and I enjoyed seeing him play centrally. Very impressed by the header!

Good fight back. With the 2 quick goals I feared one of those Wenger games when we'd go away to one of the big clubs and be 5-0 down after half an hour. Has Odegaard put a good shot on target 2 games in a row now? 😮

On the red card I hate the pass to someone on the edge of our own box someone right on their back so much. I get we want to play quickly and keep the ball but just hoof it up the fucking pitch there when the pass is never on.
