jones Sign of a grifter isn't it.
Well no it's kinda the opposite, isn't it?
In business you do get narcissist control freak leaders who attract a lot of public praise from their employees or outsiders, people either seeking advantage by currying favour, or trying to avoid being iced out.
But that situation isn't usually accompanied by the signs we've got of a grapevine where workers in the field are telling each other about their enthusiasm to get into our organisation over and above others because they believe the career environment will be optimal. Add to that the long term absence of public criticism from players who are moved on by Arsenal.
If Arteta really came across to players as the questionably qualified and competent nerd you're arguing he is, it strikes me this wouldn't be the situation.
I don't say it's a flawless hypothesis, but it's plausible people within football see Arteta much as he's depicted: a consistent to the point of being fixated, neurotically detail-oriented technical thinker about football who delivers insight to players.
I'd challenge anyone to deny we've been very close to winning a couple of major trophies in the past couple of seasons. To me it's the glaring reason there's such pent-up frustration we haven't won. Again, no saying Arsenal certainly gets there and perhaps the vital ingredients are missing, but it isn't irrational to keep hoping they're not.
As to his unlikability, the haters are calling him "Tetanyahu" these days, harsh but somewhat fair 😆
