jones I guess because my enjoyment of a football season isn't predicated on winning something at the end of it.
For me, it was - and is - about going to games (and hopefully you do get to enjoy the game) with your mates or, in this particular season, mates and family and experiencing the football hit. As Mirth says this was the season which laid the foundation for the title challenge the year after. Looking back over the season's results, we had some howlers in there, not only did we lose 3, 4 and 5 at Spurs, Liverpool and City respectively, we also somehow lost 3-0 to Crystal bloody Palace. I'd completely forgotten that.
But that isn't what I think of when I think of that season, I think of the goal of the season Lacazette scored at home to Southampton, out of the blue after 20 very ordinary minutes. I think of how James missed it as he'd gone for a first half piss. I think of how magnificent we were in the first hour against Manchester City, New Year's Day bringing the promise of a new Arsenal, even if we lost in the end. I think of beating Chelsea away and United at home in the space of a few days. I think of the final day of the season and a day which could have been horrible after the failures at Spurs and Newcastle and how, in glorious sunshine, the team, our team, absolutely battered Everton in front of a crowd which was totally behind the manager.
But that's just me. As I said earlier, I know I was in the minority here as to how that season went.
