You know it's bad when Arseblog, probably the biggest club and Arteta cheerleader is overtly critical, that it was spectacularly mishandled. It is a stain on the club, and it's hard for us to take the moral high ground now when we see other clubs doing similar shit.
While I disagreed with the club, I could understand where they were coming from in not suspending him, etc., but any argument that couldn't do much because of legal/contractual issues, which is bullshit, was conclusively debunked given they were actively negotiating with him a renewal until days ago. Arteta can speak of the values of the club etc., but given the power he has in the club, and especially on the pitch, it's clear that he was one of the ones that insisted he stayed.
Wonder if this had anything to do with Edu leaving.
