Meatwad I saw Robert Pires at an airport once and the bloke was absolutely massive, he could barely get through the metal detector. I never understood how big he was up until that point. It's funny how just when you start to have doubts after you've committed to something for so long is when you experience the greatest growth. My unshaken belief in him was starting to crack this season and we've only just gone up another level up.

It's incredible how greatly coached we are in all phases of the game. Just phenomenal.

What? We have been beating the best teams in the world by playing our game for all of this calendar year.

tazmania You need these losses as well to sharpen things up, likewise the City game. This team is on a journey as is the manager, as we get better the manager will be more confident about taking risks and then consider we have signed a lot of players who all need bedding in and getting them up to speed with the system.

We lost to a worldy freekick after both teams decided they were happy for a draw, I don't think it is deeper than that. Then also consider the players we had out for that game. The Liverpool team we faced that day is very different to what they have become, it just shows how big a role confidence plays in a teams quality. They went into that match as champions and £450m worth of improvements and now are a pale shadow of that side. We were on a 49 game unbeaten streak, lost to Man Utd and it derailed our season and for a few weeks looked a shadow of the team we were. Shit like that can happen.

We are blessed. Emery isn't a bad manager, but we weren't the right club for him. To have Arteta fill in Wenger's shoes with just one other manager in between is an incredible blessing. If Wenger's talent ID was good, Arteta's is as remarkable if not better. We have had 2 individuals within just over two decades come in during different eras of football and lift the club's standards up. To see how Liverpool struggled till Klopp came in for years with managers, now United and a team like Tottenham too, it's a blessing indeed to have chanced upon a gem like Arteta. Loved him as a player, his farewell in his last game was as heart warming an event at Arsenal and then for him to come back as a manager and do what he has done is an amazing story. Needs the silverware to top it but the work has been outstanding.

Not to mention, when you win a title, its easier to 'fade' or let your standards drop a bit the following season. Whereas we are hungrier than ever to get over the line. Everyone is showing that, from the manager to the players to the board, to the kitman.

That, and our incredibly deep bench, so much so that when (if) everyone is fit, there will not be room for everyone in the matchday squad.
