The reality is that 18 other PL clubs would take him in a heartbeat. Failing to win a title and finishing second has never been a sackable offence at a top PL club, even if we did it for the next 10 years straight.

If we don't win a title and then fall off completely in the next season or two, then it would be the right time. Like how Wenger was let go only after falling out of the CL spots.

19 other clubs I reckon, at least if you factor paying him what he's on at Arsenal according to the wherewithal of the club. City would certainly take Arteta too, it'd be the managerial switcheroo coup of the century.

daredevil the question is if we finish second this year are we more likely to finish 1st with Arteta or someone who can add that magic 5 percent to get us over the line and finish 1st?

If we finish 2nd 4 times in a row I rather roll the dice on another manager who has a higher chance of getting us first. If a guy finishes 2nd 4 times in a row then the likelihood of finishing 2nd the following season is very high.

Now if we finish 2nd and win 1/2 trophies than that’s a different story because at least this ‘winning’ has been achieved which will impact our chances of winning the league the following season.

Carabo Cup final is lowkey one of the biggest games in our history btw. Win that then the league could be a formality and then who knows what the domino effects of that will be…

I don't think a manager sticking around for a decade without a major trophy would be acceptable.

If a team is serious about wanting to win a title and has the financial resources to enable it then of course it would be failure.

Solskjaer was sacked when United were floundering in 7th position. I was talking about sacking a manager immediately after finishing second - which is what people want. Ancelotti is probably the only one.

After what we've seen since 2004 from Arsenal, I don't think there are any guarantees in my lifetime Arsenal will have a bigger opportunity to win a whole hatful of major trophies than it has right now, with Mikel Arteta as manager.

People have short memories, and there's too much entitlement, IMO. It would absolutely suck arse if we don't win it under him, make no mistake about that, but it's not the sackable travesty that people are painting it to be. That's the same kind of sensational nonsense like it's Arsenal's to lose. We haven't won a title in 20 fucking years, how can it possibly be ours to lose. You can't lose something you don't have.

Five scenarios:
We roll it back again with Arteta and win the title after four consecutive 2nd place finishes.
Luis Enrique is available, we become a dominant team for the next five years.
Carlo Ancelloti is available, his light man-management touch allows the team to get over the hump (see: Slot) but then we need a new manager and a complete rebuild a year later.
We hire someone who is okay and go back to competing for CL places.
We hire someone who is a disaster and cycle through a new manager every 18 months for the next five years.

#1 is a good probability, at least 20%-30%.
#2 and #3 are very low probability, less than 5% each IMO.
#4 and #5 are high probability if we get rid of Arteta.

FWIW I would fire Arteta if and only if we win nothing at all AND Enrique is available.

RowJimmy I don’t think number 2 is less than 5 percent given LE wants a new challenge and we would be the perfect ‘project’ for him.

If we win nothing and Enrique is available (which as mentioned I think he will be) then it’s a no-brainer. It’s like saying would you swap Gyokeres for Haaland.

Less keen Ancelloti as i think he’s a borderline dinosaur and club football is beneath him now and at nearly 70 we need a manager that can last the rigours of a 60 game season.
