I don't know how anyone come away from the first half and say we didn't go for it. So many times we got to the byline or in behind and we failed to find men in the box.

How does someone see that and say we aren't going for it? We are clearly going for it but aren't able to execute it. Those are two different things.

Second half - they dominated us through overloading the midfield.

JazzG yeah I think with the way other results have gone a draw here is fine. You won't win every match and games against other top 4 sides will always be tricky. Liverpool came to play for a point like a relegation side so it's always going to hard to break them down.

Claudius if you'd told anyone on Wednesday morning we'd still be 6 points clear today they'd have been delighted. People are way too critical at the moment given our position and season so far.

Qwiss People are anxious because of recent history but if you look at our current position, you should really be delighted. Also have a look at the CL table to really hammer home how good we've been this season.

Qwiss but if you told anyone on Wednesday that we'd draw against Liverpool, everyone wouldn't be delighted. Everyone's happy with City's result against Brighton.

If they won against Brighton and we played better and won against Liverpool, we'd have no bigger lead than we are right now, but people would still be happier about our performance. I don't think that's irrational.

Qwiss Yeah but then Wednesday evening happened and City dropped points. The circumstances changed after Wednesday morning. We had an eminently winnable home game against a team in not great form and without arguably their starting front three (or perhaps two of them anyway), and ended the game relieved with a point and not losing.

Saliba drove with the ball towards the box a number of times, Timber played ahead of Saka for a lot of the half. I can understand criticism of our creativity in and around the box but we were absolutely on it in the first half with regards to intensity and desire to win.

This team needs to win a title. The ruthlessness will follow. Till that happens there will always be pressure and fear which will impede us in some matches. The 2nd half was an abomination all around and yet Liverpool didn't have a shot on target, their first such stat in 600 matches and 16 years.

This is my thinking too. Just have to hope we do actually get over that hump and win the damn thing this season.

Rohit Saliba drove with the ball towards the box a number of times, Timber played ahead of Saka for a lot of the half. I can understand criticism of our creativity in and around the box but we were absolutely on it in the first half with regards to intensity and desire to win.

That intensity and desire doesn’t count for too much when you’re not set to use it effectively though. Saliba often found himself about three quarters of the way up the pitch and with nobody to pass too because it was so congested. He couldn’t turn back as it was only the space he had just vacated. He looked lost and clueless a few times. We looked as if we didn’t know what we were doing almost as often as we did to be honest (bit of an exaggeration but it was certainly far more than you’d expect/hope)

We haven't won a title in over 20 years. The pressure is huge. I am sure the players feel it. It may not be the appropriate example but we went without a trophy for 10 years and then won 3 FA Cups in 4 seasons. We didn't have the quality to win a competition over 38 games but following that first nervy win against Hull, we looked very confident in one off matches in Cups

HomeSteak We aren't playing City away until matchweek 33.

As of right now it is 6 points and by then it could be 10 or 2 or 5 or we could be behind. We both have loads of games to play between now and then and we don't know what will happen in that game.

So I don't really see the need to bank on them winning that game as a way to reduce our current margin.

one moment with him that made me shake my head was when he drove all the way to timber on the touchline and just rolled the ball to him when he realized he had no where else to go. somehow timber managed to wriggle his way out, but after a heavy touch the ball went out, so at least it wasn't a turnover with our CB all the way up the pitch.
