Jude seems extremely arrogant. He's been the golden child of English football for the last 3-4 years now and has an air about him that he feels like he is better than everyone. I think the matchup with us also brought out the attitude of the king of the playground at recess suddenly getting challenged by his peers and when things started not going his way, he began to lash out. Rice, Saka and MLS are all on his corner as great or potentially great English players and threaten him being the figurehead of this generation of English players, which he appears to believe he's already inherited. While our guys are out there scrapping and earning every bit of their acclaim, he just strikes me as a player who expects those around him to bow down and when they don't, he gets petulant.

**I think he's a phenomenal player by the way. But I do think he needs to take some of this humbling to heart and adjust his attitude a bit. I could see how it could rub some of his England teammates the wrong way - young, spoiled star playing at Real Madrid and expecting his feet to be kissed.

USArsenal I think Villa showed us what PSG are. I don't understand how people are calling them the best team in the competition just because they got a win over a tired Liverpool and then limped past Villa. Arsenal and Barcelona have been consistently excellent from start to finish. Both in the top 3 of the league stage, PSG were 15th. Overrated team, I'll be extremely disappointed if we lose to them.

Oh, i don't say that. I think Barca is... But many of those games that they did not win in the group stage were earlier in the season (against us, Bayern and Atletico). Then they started to figure it out, and have been much improved since then. Yeah, they have their issues also, but you can't say they have been a shit team. Though i do agree, i think we have every change of beating them over 2 legs

USArsenal no one left in the competition has been a shit team, no one in the QFs was either. I still think PSGs OTT praise is almost entirely based on how they did vs Liverpool. Beating Brest in the qualifier was hardly a big achievement. Donnarumma was the MOTM against Villa and they still lost the second leg. If we don't get to the final I think we'll have fucked up big time. We are a better team than they are.

JazzG on the ArsenalVision pod they - Clive in particular, kept referencing something I've felt all week and that is the fact that Madrid did not respect us, or this tie, at all. They turned up at our place, expecting to roll us over and then when they got hammered, assumed that we were just gonna go and roll over for them in the Bernabeu. They haven't been paying attention to us, or where we are as a team, at all.

RocktheCasbah I think the first leg shook them to their core, it wasn’t a smash and grab. We dominated them in every aspect of the game. They probably went home thinking wtf just happened. Second half in particular we were in complete control.

It felt like the last week or so they weren’t trying to tell the world the comeback was on they were trying to convince themselves. Saw that twat Carvajal trying to wind Saka up at half time as well.

Just vibes and history doesn’t win you games. We worked harder and got what we deserved over two legs.

Meanwhile we finished a couple of points behind City but Madrid thought we would just roll over despite us pushing City for 2 seasons in a row. In particular they gave Saka way too much space compared to the average Premier league team.

In some ways I’m glad Saka missed the penalty because we could go and beat them in open play. They’ll know that they’re lucky that the tie finished 5-1 on aggregate. It could have easily been 7-0

Mirth yes. I was saying to one of my Liverpool mates yesterday, Courtois was comfortably Real's best player over both games. Had it not been for him, we would have been 5 or 6 up after the first leg - and then there's the penalty save on Wednesday night.

I was saying to the missus, I wonder whether the standard of La Liga is all that. I watched most of Madrid's game on Sunday and my feeling was Madrid, whilst having the excuse of being down to ten, weren't great but Alaves didn't really have a clue how to break them down. I certainly didn't come away from it thinking, "well, we're in trouble on Wednesday."

I'm sure I said it here last week, but - outside of their city rivals - there's no way Madrid are used to dealing with teams as well organised as we are on the regular.

RocktheCasbah one important thing to note is the spread in salaries. Premier league teams paid about £2.6bn in salaries last year. Spain and Italy are each around £1.3Bn, with close to half of that in around 3 teams each. These leagues just don’t have the same quality of player as England. You can see in how English teams are farting on opponents in europa and conference league. England is very out of sync with other leagues now

One thing to bare in mind, this team is better than our 2006 one that got to the final (despite the high number of legends we had in the team) and the Barca 2006 is quite a bit better than their current side.
