Higuain is the first choice at Madrid. Why would he look to move?

I wouldn't know. Don't watch much La Liga and he didn't feature much against the games against Barcelona.

He picked up a difficult knee injury back in december (which was why Real decided to loan Adebayor). It's pretty much the only reason Benzema has been getting games for them. Higuain is their main striker.

Have you seen him this season?

A bit. If this is what we were after, should have just signed Darren Bent in January. A better player, and will probably end up costing about the same.

Anyway, apparently Benzema's defo staying at Real, which is a shame, because he's the only half decent striker we've been linked to so far. Still, plenty of time, but it's something that really does need fixing.

I get your idea, but Bent is definitely not a better player than this season's Falcao. Like I said if we are getting Falcao we will need to change the setup altogether to suit him and we got much more urgent needs than luxury buys like him. That said, I would still be over the moon if we sign a player of his calibre. Scored another well taken goal today btw.

If anything, last season's Falcao is better than this season's version. Then again, last season's Bent was also better than this season's version.

Bent is a better player, for my money, no problem. Stick Bent in that team and he'd absolutely do just as well, if not better.

I think his spell at Tottenham really damaged Bent's reputation. It's not that he's incredibly gifted or anything, but he's a solid player with a good sense of where the goal is. An english Hernandez, basically.

His pricetag has ruined his reputation.

Bents been pretty good for Villa, had a lot of good goals ruled out too. If it wasn't for officials I reckon people would have more time for him. I said it before I'd love to have a player like him at the club. Don't think his price was that outrageous either compared to other high profile strikers. Bent or Dzeko? I'd take Bent every time.

It's not so much that his pricetag is outrageous (though it is in my opinion), like I said at the time considering Villa were unlikely to sign anyone better than him then it may be worth it for them.

The issue I have with Bent's pricetag and as a possible signing is the same issue I have with Young. For the amount they'd cost, I'd imagine we could do better.

That tit Balague reckons Benzema IS on the market. If that's true, we HAVE to be the ones in for him.

Yeah, that sounds like Arsenal...

It sounds like a typical Wenger move when you think of it. A player he rates highly goes for a lot of money to another league, doesn't really click and Wenger picks him up on a knockdown price one or two seasons later.

I'm still a bit sceptical about Benzema as a player, but he's got talent at least. At the moment he would be a very good buy. The kind of squad depth that could give us that last push towards a league title next season.

What do you reckon, how much would Real want for him?

Provided Bendtner goes for 10+m in the summer, I wouldn't mind shelling out 20m for Benzema. Would definitely improve our squad and give us more direct attacking threat.

How much wage is Benzema on? I doubt, he'd like a wage cut and I reckon he's already getting more than Cesc. Do you guys think we'll get him when we already have Van Persie and Chamakh?

I can't see Wenger going for another striker. If we sell Bendtner, we can get one but I don't think we'll get someone of Benzema's stature. We might just settle for Vela as Bendtner replacement, for all you know.

We'll sell Chamakh this summer.

Bloody hope so. Klaus stitched us riiiight up with that pathetic waif

You might be right. I don't think Wenger will view Chamakh as a great option for a Van Persie backup next year. He's ok but he's just not title winning material.

Way I see it:

  • Wenger cheaps out, sells Chamakh and uses Nick who's not really up to the job as Van Persie's backup.
  • Wenger splashes: sells Bendtner, keeps Chamakh as a backup and brings in a striker notionally better than either.

Yep. No excuses, a potentially brilliant player, going at a good price. Its a rare opportunity for us to snatch a top player, we can't act like a feeder club every fucking summer.

Same but he should do well here.

Yeah, he does have all the right attributes to make it in Premier League. Wenger might get more out of his game too.

Yeah, I never should've signed him.

I get the feeling he might leave too. I think Bendtner ultimately will be the one that gets sold though while someone else comes in. If Robin is going to miss his usual 60% of a season we do need better quality behind him.
