He and Giroud here would mean they are effectively competing for a starting spot at the WC, no? Pretty good motivation to start showing up for every game I imagine.
Also, it's not my money so they can spend as much as they like upgrading from an average striker who trots around the pitch sulkily to a very good one who does the same. Don't believe this for a second mind you.

yep on his day he could be scoring a great solo goal like Henry, on another day he could missed an absolutely ridiculous sitter.

anyway there are serious underrating of benzema here. He clearly is top tier

Weren't he and Ribery charged with soliciting an underage prostitute? Isn't that still ongoing? Would surely be some serious implications if found guilty so probably a risk Wenger wouldn't want to take. Anyway, we're not signing anyone at this price level.

Yes, the case is ongoing. The maximum penalty either will face is 3 years' jail time - or they could be fined the equivalent of a few days' wages.

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over whether they knew the prostitute's real age, so I doubt there will be a conviction unless there's some significant evidence the tabloids haven't gotten hold of yet in that regard.

of all the rumours of the last few days, this is the least likely signing. too many moving parts for a deal like this to happen at this stage of the window

I feel about Benzema like Alfonso feels about Rooney. He would revitalize the team.

little bit dependent on Suarez. again.

one thing i mentioned earlier in the summer was having one in the bag. if we'd bought Higuain, we'd still be able to come back for a Suarez or Benzema and offload Giroud next summer. it would leave us unbalanced for a season, but over 60 or so games, that would be 180 starting spots in the front-line giving plenty of opportunity for all the above, Walcott, Podolski, etc
