flobaba Its not that deep.. I think he is a decent player who will get us goals, but lacks significantly in other areas I mentioned.. I dont have stats to back up my opinion about his touch, the videos are out there and people can judge for themselves... I happen to think that his defincies are in areas where I think the team is already lacking.. If we signed Rodriygo and the next B.Silva as an 8 Id maybe be more optamistic about this.

If people think the trade off is worth it, or maybe by the sounds of it you dont even see a trade off and/or think he will continue anywhere near his 1:1 rate in the prem (which I find insane) because he scored 6 goals in the champions league... then fine, I dont.

We saw something similar with City when they signed Haaland (different player I know) which many would argue did work out.. but i don't think a) he will be anywhere near that productive and b) our technical level is not as good as City's was to absorb that trade off...

Sesko isn't worth 100m.. whatever his price is though is going on the idea that he will pop off in the next 2 years.. Both are far from ideal looking at where we are at...

Difference is, Isak is proven in the PL. My point wasn't that it was easy, it was that it's not necessarily a massive indicator of top tier talent. Like I said before, it's not nothing but it's not a slam dunk (Mitrovic was joint top scorer the previous Nations League).

...but for all the reasons that have all been discussed previously by loads of people here and in the world of football, this is predicated on the assumption that Gyokeres will be proven quality in the PL, which isn't a guarantee.

Don Pacifico Nothing is a guarantee Don. There's no guarantee Isak will score as many goals next season either; in fact I'd bet you good money right now that he'll fall apart trying to play three games a week. I've seen more than enough of both of them, for many years, to feel comfortable backing Gyökeres to outscore him in any context, whether it's the national team, Champions League or Premier League.

Klaus absolutely. But you set up the paradigm of potential (ie. not guaranteed) vs quality (ie. guaranteed), which is why I challenged it.

It goes without saying but if we do sign him, I hope your confidence isn't misplaced and that he delivers us the title next season.

Klaus Hojlund was mentioned above as a stick to beat Gyökeres with, but surely he's a cautionary tale against blowing your cash on Sesko if anything?

Yep. Way more risk with hyped up kids. How many young Bundesliga strikers have we seen come to the PL after scoring similar numbers to Sesko and never go beyond that?

samthegooner for me they both have a similar ceiling. There is a chance that Sesko develops into a top striker, there is a chance Gyokeres is already one and ready for the step up.

lorddulaarsenal Wissa I like, different profile than Havertz and could be a good back up option if we miss our big targets. Mateta is good but injury prone. Joao Pedro I don't think is good enough.

To be fair I don’t see an awful lot of difference between them and Sesko or Gyokeres. They are proven goal getters in the Prem and could be used as an alternative to Havertz.

It’s probably better to splurge big funds on a player like Rogers

lorddulaarsenal Sesko and Gyokeres have higher ceilings esp the former and will be better equipped in CL and top opposition. Wissa is a glorified journeymen striker.

Pepe LeFrits you were saying he had better numbers against Havertz, Sesko, etc because he was fit. I pointed out he has better goals per 90 as well. It wasn't a riddle.

Speedster It is a sellers market when it comes to CFs, lack of options out there meaning players like him are being priced £20m more than they are worth.

Apparently DiMarzio claims we've agreed personal terms with Gyökeres.

Assuming for a moment that current transfer rumours are true, what's the point of agreeing personal terms with two strikers unless you're trying to get both? Shouldn't there be a clear target to pursue? Do Arsenal really need to save money so badly that it comes down to which one of Sporting and Leipzig that blinks first?

It's entirely possible that we think they're equivalent in the long run (one is better in this way, the other in some other way) and so cost becomes a relevant factor.
I haven't watched enough of either to have an opinion either way but it's pretty clear to me that the rest of the world does not consider it to be as cut-and-dried as you do.

Klaus could just be leverage while negotiating. could be insurance that you don't leave the summer window empty handed. Don't see a problem
