these wingers are so hard to evaluate. my main problem with martinelli is he doesn't get enough goals and assists and we're linked with these saviors who have less end product. i'm sure they're better dribblers than him, but scoring matters.

Sicario2 The 24 hour news cycle and social media's obsession with engagement is fueling these sagas. My recollection is that most of these transfer sagas played out over a long time other than the very cash rich clubs like Chelsea. It's why I'm not worried at all about the summer - we will get our business done in due time and unlike a lot of our rivals, we have very few leaks so everyone is just guessing.

I would prioritize Rodrygo over anyone else we've been linked with, including both Sesko and Gyokeres. He's the only one who would be guaranteed to start (which says as much about Havertz, at least in my opinion, as about any of the others). I'd be fine going into next season with a front line of Saka-Havertz-Rodrygo and Trossard, Martinelli, Nwaneri (and Merino) as reserves. That would do more to improve us, IMO, than either Gyokeres or Sesko but no new LW.

RowJimmy strongly disagree. The gap between Jesus/Havertz and Gyokeres is much bigger than the gap between Martinelli/Trossard and Rodrygo. The idea of going into next season with only Havertz at CF is disgusting.

lorddulaarsenal I don't think he'd go for a price that would be worth it to us. I think he's positionally a bit suspect and would need a lot of coaching.

Sicario2 you’re referring to a time when we relied on football journalists for news. People who were trained in one of a few things. Either going to the stadium and whipping out a match report within an hour of full time, conducting pre-match interviews, or doing biographical pieces on players and coaches. They never had to spend the summer calling up various club officials and agents, and repeating ITK rubbish. Also remember that actual journalists are trained to write news, not hearsay. So it’s normal we didn’t grow up around this noise.

Mirth I meant power among our forwards to terrorise defenders. Martinelli is the quickest but he's easily outmuscled.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert Saka and Havertz are both quite strong though. I think it would be easier to overlook Martinelli's lack of strength if his blistering pace came back. He looked more explosive at the end of the year so I'm hoping he will continue to look rapid in preseason.

Coombs things were concrete but we added too much water to the mix, and now things are fluid again. and we're mixing by hand, too

Sicario2 Btw is it me or before transfer rumours used to break and then within 2-3 weeks we would see actual concrete movement before a signing was imminent.

Most of the links that keep lingering like this are dead. Last summer Williams was off the table pretty early but the papers kept writing about it anyway.

Sicario2 I think it's clear that he will stay this season and see how it goes. It will go bad, and he will move next summer.
