I'd prefer Williams due to his undeniable explosiveness. He's excellent one on one too but in a different way.
Young enough to be moulded into a 20 a season wide forward.
Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert Agreed and we don't even need him to be a 20 a season wide forward. If we could get 20 goals combined between him and Martinelli then that will be huge, especially if we bring in a CF with an eye for goal. I just want more pace on our frontline- we need to be able to punish teams in transition as well as when we have control. Williams is deadly in transition but can also attack in a settled state 1v1. Rodrygo can too but I just don't think he is as explosive as Williams, and he's almost 2 years older.
Prefer Williams as well but arent his wage demands too high? If he wont compromise then move on
Let’s see if Newcastle drop out of the Champs League places and get Bruno G. He’s being creativity and goals.
Eze likewise.
Would much prefer Victor G over Benny S. The former is proven, more established and is a ‘win now’ signing. The other is a project signing and less likely to win us anything major next year.
Arteta must have balls of steel if he drops £80m on an unproven 21 year old albeit a higher ceiling than the Swede from Sporting.
Sesko is just a rawer, less technical Havertz with more shot power. He seems redundant. I agree Gyokeres is more win now. I think he'd have some struggles as a lone 9 physically/tactically, but I think his supreme effectiveness in the box would translate nicely, and that's a profile we don't have.
Anyway there will be tons of stories about us ‘close’ to this guy and ‘about to sign’ that guy. I don’t believe a word anymore until I see it on Arsenal dot com with the player holding the shirt.
Last message on this thread until we sign someone of any note.
Sicario2 Wow, this guy really seems to know his stuff!
For them only now to be deciding who to sign btw Sesko and Gyokeres, sounds like houseboat to me. Extreme houseboat.
flobaba — maybe Sesko’s middling (mediocre?) season scared us off?
Could be that we saw the potential but wanted to ensure he took a step forward. Doesn’t seem like he’s a better prospect now than a year ago.
it feels like sesko was a 23/24 signing. might have been good to get him instead of havertz at the time. in light of what's transpired since, we might need to go with a player with a more established record in the form of gyok.
Gazza M Sesko was a child at start of 23/24. Wouldn’t have given us anywhere near what Havertz did last year. Would’ve been Havertz + Sesko. I’m sure there are regrets about not convincing Sesko to join last summer. He would’ve thrived after Havertz injury.
Where are all the good players? There are so few game changers out there who are not already at a Barca, Real, Bayern, Liverpool or PSG.
Only ones I can think of are Isak and Wirtz. Maybe Palmer.
It's a sad state of affairs.
marmoush and kvara were game changers for their clubs tbf. they're out there, you just need to prepare and then quickly when the opportunities present themselves. we claim to have all the prep done, so we'll see what shakes out
Claudius sorry I should clarify, I mean if present day sesko was available at the start of 23/24 it would've been the perfect profile signing for where the team was at that time. for the present day team iteration of the team I feel like the sesko boat has sailed
Charles Watts is saying that if we can get Zubimendi over the line during the club world cup window it'll mean that transfer can be done under last years PSR.
Qwiss Does it not carry over if we don't use it?
Qwiss Isn't PSR governing operating loss? Surely Arsenal aren't making losses with all these record revenues?
Edit: Googled it. Oh man.
JazzG 🤷
It'd only be a portion of the transfer
