JazzG I think the difference with us signing a goal scoring striker vs. City signing Haaland and their overall play becoming less unpredictable and fluid is that Haaland is absolutely useless outside of the box, while being the best in the world inside the box. Every striker we have been linked with is far and away better on the ball than Haaland is. So add in a goal scoring 9 who also knows how to play football outside of hitting the ball hard and making good runs to get in behind the defense and you won't have to play with 10 men in the buildup like City often does. There's obviously a flip side to that since there is no one better at finishing one touch chances than Haaland is but I'd rather have a striker who can create for himself a bit, isn't useless when he's taking more than one touch and will contribute to the buildup at times.

samthegooner the striker you are describing sounds like Isak! I think this summer is impossible but he’ll be available next summer. I’d rather we make do with a cheaper signing this summer, strengthen our wide players and then go for him next summer.

I don’t think he’ll join them either, just saying if there is a chance we should be going all in. Sounds like Leverkusen might even sell him for less if he goes abroad, don’t think they’re too impressed with Bayern’s tactics.

Liverpool for all their talk don’t really have the pull of an elite club. Wouldn’t surprise me if we have made inquiries, been told he’s joining Bayern and moved on: Liverpool last summer willing to activate Zubimendi buyout clause, leaked to press without player agreement and then got rejected.

Mirth When a club is seriously considering a transfer it's just the same as regular considering, along with one or more slight frowns and looks of concentration.

lorddulaarsenal would we be better with a spiked metal ball at the end of the stick rather than a dagger? That way you can attack side to side as well as thrusting. But daggers do slice well, and slicing is a good way to go through a defence. Perhaps you're right - dagger it is.

I spent far too long thinking about this.

I hope we don't sign Rodrygo. Never impressed me. Our current wingers are better or as good.

Zubimendi and a striker would be a good summer.

Kel Varnsen I think there's another gear in him if given a run at LW. tbh him and nelli are more similar than I would like, but I view rodrygo as the player i hoped martinelli would be by now

Kel Varnsen Bit on the fence as well. Obviously very talented player but not sure he's better than Martinelli who I think is very underrated. Only 6 goals and 5 assists from him this season. 80m would be way overpriced at least.

Qwiss Yeah good shout, forgot all about that. And that was at a time when they were going blow for blow with City and both sides finishing with 90+ points. They still didn't have the pull to bring an English player in.

Segway Have seen some say with Rodrygo you need an overlapping LB because he always comes central from the wing, that obviously creates a problem because we don't have marauding full backs.
