Gazza M he's lovely. Imagine a game where you start Williams and Saka. And then in the 70th minute you bring on Martinelli and Nwaneri. Opposing defenders would send sick notes for Arsenal games

Gazza M nice to see what happened properly. I was at the game (I may have mentioned this) but in the second row behind the opposite goal so it was difficult to know - and no replays on the big screens. I got that it was good from the reaction in the stadium! He'd only been on the pitch about five minutes when he did that.

I was just perusing the stats section of the Prem. We have no one even in double figured for goals. Havertz is the closest with 9 and obviously he ain't getting to 10. We have no one else close. Even the past couple seasons, our top scorer was either Saka (16) or Odegaard (15). We really do cry out for a 20 goal a season striker. We all know that, of course, but the fact that we probably won't finish the season with a single player in double digits for league goals is a little embarrassing.

USArsenal All of Jesus, Saka and Havertz would've easily made double figures without injuries.
That said, not signing even a 10-15 goal scorer this summer probably had massive knock-on effects on the availability of all the afore-mentioned players. One more credible body probably saves some of these guys. Contrast with CM where we have Rice, Jorginho, Merino and Partey competing for 2 spots. Other than Merino's shoulder issue, they've been able to rest and rotate adequately in this tough schedule

Claudius Jesus has 3 goals so I disagree there. Havertz was on for 15ish I reckon in the league, probably 20-25 overall. Saka for 12 maybe.

I think Trossards output has been really disappointing this season, he's got more minutes than any of those guys or Martinelli and Merino and has scored less. Last season when he stepped in he did great to cover for the others but this season he's not been nearly as good.

Pepe LeFrits If you're talking about Nico, yes - he is right footed. But his left foot is a wand and he's scored a couple of great curling finishes with it. He'd definitely be a great signing for us with his ability to play on both wings at a high level. He's also very comfortable playing as a touchline winger and often plays a bit deeper for Bilbao. Put him in our XI with more dominance/possession and I think his goals will go up.

Trossard's drop off this season has contributed just as much to our struggles as Saka, Odegaard and Havertz's injuries.

He's been a massive disappointment.

daredevil true. the fall off should have been predicted. we got his best years already, and id argue he's already proven to be more than worth his transfer fee

I think my updated pie-in-the-sky summer would be (caveat that this is probably unrealistic):
Sell: Kiwior (20m), Zinchenko (15m), Nelson, Sambi, Tavares, Vieira (conservatively 20m between the 4)
Leave on Free: Partey, Jorginho, Tierney
Incoming:

Ekitike (75m) would be my first choice but it seems like Gyokeres (65m) might be the one - which is okay to me.
Nico Williams (50m RC)
Zubimendi (65m - over RC to get payment terms)
Huijsen (50m)
Garcia (20m)
Nypan (15m)
Outgoing: 55m conservatively in fees, with a lot of wages saved on the free transfers
Incoming: 265m if we went with Gyokeres

Ideally, I'd also like to replace Trossard with a younger forward this summer but I don't think Semenyo/Cunha is realistic for that bench role and I don't really have a younger, cheaper target I like other than Gittens, who wouldn't be cheap. With this summer, we'd have the following rotation:

Strikers: Havertz, Gyokeres, Jesus (injured)
Wingers: Saka, Williams, Martinelli, Trossard, Nwaneri
CM's: Odegaard, Rice, Zubimendi, Merino, Nypan
Outside Backs: Timber, White, MLS, Calafiori
Center Backs: Saliba, Gabriel, Huijsen, Tomiyasu (injured)
GK: Raya, Garcia

It still feels a bit light on the CM depth but I imagine that Nwaneri and MLS will be given opportunities there throughout the year. Same with CB depth with White, Timber, Calafiori rotating in when needed. IF we can avoid as many big injuries, that team is right at the top of the contenders for the League and UCL IMO.

Thought he would have gone elsewhere in Europe, somewhere like Spain and get a release clause put in if he wants to step up a bigger club. Though Villa probably making a good offer and he gets PL football. Villa still with an outside chance of finishing in the CL.
