I think Berta has proven thus far this summer that he has a much more deft touch with the media, intentional leaks and manipulating PR to his advantage. Which is why I think the "have to sell in order to buy" line is intentional to gain leverage in any negotiations. How could he go to Palace and ask for a price under the release clause if they know we are flush with funds?
I don't think we are done with attacking signings this summer but I also won't be surprised if we don't have anyone else in before the United game. Berta has shown he is fine with a game of chicken and won't back down easily so I think that's his play with Eze - see if we can get a better price than the RC or at least some better terms and then move for him. Then, I think if we can shift some of the extra players we've got on the books (Trossard, Zinchenko, Vieira, Nelson, Lokonga), we will move for one of Rodrygo/Gordon/Leao. Even if we just get Eze in, I would give that a 10/10. Really loving what Berta is doing personally but to each their own!
