Eddie Howe has Arteta's number tactically. It's always tough.
flobaba they are Arteta’s Bolton / Stoke
flobaba but why him? He looks like a haemorrhoid and he's fucking mediocre.
If Saliba doesn't find a way to deal with Isak, they will beat us again.
We need to show soon we can move from looking like a team that can be in the mix and up there too actually doing something. I think that should have been this year personally but it has to be next season or we have to look at is Arteta able to take us on the final step.
I think I hate Newcastle.
Burnwinter yeah they have that agricultural pooey attitude and approach to things.
awooga83 yep. No excuses. He can either do it, or he can't. It might be a case whereby we need a little something extra to make our attacking play more incisive and direct. Next season I feel should be his last here if he doesn't deliver another trophy. Preferably one of the big 2.
We really should have sent the reserves out. Waste of time and effort. Can't even remember last time we scored from a corner 😮
Absolutely shameful performance and result, we battered them in the first leg and didn't deserve the win but this game we didn't deserve anything out of it. Really disappointed.
To go into a semi final like this knowing we are 2-0 down, after our City win and we simply did not show up. Newcastle matched our physical intensity.
Their attack is better than ours, ultimately that's what it comes down to.
Tactics yep, more physical power and agility, plus better finishers.
We need Nico Williams on the left then someone like Sesko or Martinez as a striker
Isak was excellent but thought Saliba was terrible today, really poor from him.
Tactics Their attack is better than ours, ultimately that's what it come down to.
Agreed, the only player we have on the level of Isak/Gordon is Saka.
Was Saliba high? He wasn't himself against city either with 2 chances. That was woeful from him.
Martinelli better not be out for long. I hate Newcastle. We have to smash them next time
Another thing I'll say is we had an intense game against City, we left it all on the pitch that day and we've gone to Newcastle with the same 11. We just didn't have the legs in us, no rotation options and it showed. Newcastle are a very physical team.
Don't worry guys, we will reinforce the frontline with some decent finishers in the January window.....oh wait it's February. Nevermind, there's always next season!
You could sense that physically we weren’t up to it in this game, injuries have compounded our problems as has our lack of depth in attacking positions
this game was a bridge too far after the city game. on top of that newcastle are kryptonite for us even on one of our good days. not really surprised at the result
We still play them one more time, we better give them absolute fucking hell.
Would any one (and the greater fans) have accepted a B squad today?
Sterling - ?? - Nwaneri — Merino — ?? ———- Jorginho —— Tierney - Gab - Kiwior - Timber
Even throwing that out is hard with two of Martinelli, Odegaard, and Havertz having to play.
