Loved the game and performance but that City team was slow and lightweight. I think opponents in the CL knockout stages are going to be a much more annoying matchup.

This match is a bit of a reality check Sunday was good in putting city to the sword but they are a shadow of their previous selves. We still have some way to improve to actually become a team that wins something. At the moment we are a competent team but no match for the teams that have won the big trophies and Arteta still has to prove himself at that level.

awooga83 yep. No excuses. He can either do it, or he can't. It might be a case whereby we need a little something extra to make our attacking play more incisive and direct. Next season I feel should be his last here if he doesn't deliver another trophy. Preferably one of the big 2.

awooga83 It's a mentality thing as much as anything. Did we (i.e. the team and manager) really go into that game thinking we could turn over Newcastle and get a result? I don't think so, and even fully fit and fresh I don't think those players would have went out there believing we'd be coming away from the game with a place in the final.

We need to show soon we can move from looking like a team that can be in the mix and up there too actually doing something. I think that should have been this year personally but it has to be next season or we have to look at is Arteta able to take us on the final step.

Absolutely shameful performance and result, we battered them in the first leg and didn't deserve the win but this game we didn't deserve anything out of it. Really disappointed.

To go into a semi final like this knowing we are 2-0 down, after our City win and we simply did not show up. Newcastle matched our physical intensity.

We need Nico Williams on the left then someone like Sesko or Martinez as a striker

Agreed, the only player we have on the level of Isak/Gordon is Saka.
