Liverpool won the League last season, beat us to it by 10 points. They re-signed the players that were instrumental in them winning the league and are rumoured to sign players who will raise their ceiling despite them winning the title and not players that will give their existing players more rest.
We absolutely have to raise our level to keep up. Else we will end up empty handed again. We made a great run for it in 23/24 in the 2nd half of the season and it wasn't good enough. Our start in 22/23 was incredible and yet it wasn't good enough. We have shown we can do it for half a season with a fully fit squad. In those seasons we didn't lose out because we had too many injuries, we lost because we weren't good enough to sustain our level for a full season.
We need ceiling raisers first and we can continue to improve our floor while we do it if we want to maintain a level over 50 games a season in multiple competitions.
