tazmania having watched last night’s game, he’s great where he is. He was a wonderful interpretation of the role, which Tuchel has also picked up on. He’s the Zinchenko upgrade I’ve been waiting for. What MLS is doing is physically and mentally challenging. Massive kudos

tazmania I don't see Lewis-Skelly as a 'positional' player like Partey. He is more dynamic and benefits from freedom to run. I wouldn't say he's an orchestrator the way you want a 6 to be ideally. I think 8 is more likely than 6 if he plays in midfield. But I still think the inverted fullback is the best use of his talents.

There was a point last night where he contested a ball against Rodrygo, I believe, around midfield where he bodied him and Rodrygo just bounced off him while MLS barely moved, possessed the ball and then broke into the attack again. He's incredibly strong for his age and his strength plus his balance remind me so much of Moussa Dembele. I think his ceiling is much higher than Dembele but I love having players who are elite athletically and physically. What a player.

Sicario2 -- I think the young Rooney is an apt comparable. Both have demonstrated a tremendous ability to play through contact that is very rare for young players. But it doesn't end there, I think there's a real understanding that MLS (like Rooney) has shown on how he'll positively impact individual moments and the greater game.

CPM -- I think he looks twice as likely to take a risk on ball as Partey. If he plays as a 6 he'll need that coached out or he'll be on constant yellows/reds.....which is already an issue.

The way he plays now is great given how he does take ons and long runs. When he moves inside, he creates a mismatch because the opposition will be down one man in midfield, and then he can exploit those spaces. I loved yesterday that he was constantly pushing high into the left half space in the opposition. He is effectively able to take up the expected positions of a LB, DM and L8 in short periods, and do what is required in each area of the field at a very high level.

Carragher described him as having the same kind of arrogance as Rooney. It reminds me of other highly talented players we have seen in recent years like Vieira and Nelson. These guys don't have the same self-belief to take risks and be the instigator

Yeah he is Arteta's perfect inverted full back. There is no way Arteta is moving him from that position. He really does have it all mental, technical and physical.

Read an article the other day about how he has freed up Martinelli a bit through passing out to him a lot quicker but also with his runs occupying the space inside to prevent double teams on Marti.

And if he is left open on the inside he is a threat (goal v Man C + assist v Real) so it's a risk to leave him free.

He is basically the key to unlocking our left side.
