The way he plays now is great given how he does take ons and long runs. When he moves inside, he creates a mismatch because the opposition will be down one man in midfield, and then he can exploit those spaces. I loved yesterday that he was constantly pushing high into the left half space in the opposition. He is effectively able to take up the expected positions of a LB, DM and L8 in short periods, and do what is required in each area of the field at a very high level.
Carragher described him as having the same kind of arrogance as Rooney. It reminds me of other highly talented players we have seen in recent years like Vieira and Nelson. These guys don't have the same self-belief to take risks and be the instigator
