JazzG Thanks. Definitely felt a bit emotional being the first NLD without him. I say "talk" but, with him being a Spurs fan it was usually much more of an argument (although we'd both softened in recent years and managed to talk about the games in much more depth rather than just bicker over the flash points lol) which wasn't always fun. But obviously wish I could do it again.

They've got it horribly wrong in the transfer window and with Son starting to fade they are going to really struggle over the next few seasons I reckon.

For context, they've spent circa £250m on Richarlison, Solanke, Madison, Kulesevski, Johnson and Odobert who are all mid-table quality players. None of those guys are good enough for a top 4 side.

When I saw the replay of the goal I thought for sure they'd take it away from us for the push, however minor. Can be difficult to celebrate goals properly these days when you're waiting to see if they can find a way to not allow it.

We got quite a few decisions in our favour yesterday. Timber putting his hands on Vicario, only for Vicario to get a yellow was another.

Also as ridiculous as the Saliba yellow card was, you'd think the players would have had it drummed into them not to do anything silly to hold up restarts etc to give the referee and excuse to take centre stage after what happened last time out. I thought for sure we'd end up with a second yellow again after a stupid first.

Claudius Solanke for £65m was crazy. He had one good season and is nothing special. There's a reason he wasn't in the England squad, even Southgate could spot his level. Toney was there for the taking and Spurs would have been much better off with him.

Ange is a fraud too. Enjoyed seeing him get pissy with the Sky interviewer after the game. The facade of affable everyman is falling away. Wouldn't be surprised if they start next season with a different manager.

Mirth I missed the game as had family stuff but from what I've read it looks like we set up very different from how we would normally and that broadly speaking the game plan worked.

also, spare a thought for the great Ange. he came with so much fanare, opened the league with a 10 game unbeaten streak that had people oohing and aahing. they now have 44 points from their last 90 available.

I think this guy is genuinely the worst big profile player I've ever seen. His wayward pass when he came on, and then standing in an offside position to block a shot from his own teammate was laughably bad.

Don Pacifico Yeah we went direct and more on the counter. They were playing that retarded highline and Martinelli broke through a few times easily

Qwiss Spurs had a good start last season partly because most Premier league managers couldn’t believe Ange was playing such a risky game. As soon as the league course corrected, results have followed.

As for Solanke - he’s 27 years old with one good season. Exactly the sort of player they should have stayed away from.

Heard that they've won something like 3 or their last 13 games or something.

Some of their last few big signings have come from Bournemouth, Leeds, Leicester, Burnley and Forest. That's not to say they're bad moves, but a strategy of paying a premium to fill your squad with players from English relegation threatened sides feels like a misstep.

I still can't believe how much Ange was praised after the Chelsea game last season where Spurs were down to 9 men and he refused to alter his tactics so Chelsea carved them open every time they got the ball. It was seen as admirable or some shit, but it was just stupid.

Me either tbh it's incredibly frustrating to support. Our team will do whatever it takes to win now which is a lot more satisfying for me.

I'm quite apologetic towards Arteta and his team, but at the end of the day, if he wants to break into the same group as Graham and Wenger, he needs to do what they both did and beat the City juggernaut. Graham beat Liverpool and Wenger beat United, so Arteta has to beat City in the same way. Although, I wouldn't hold it against him if he didn't.

He has to win a league title to be regarded as an Arsenal great, but Man City have rigged football in so many different ways that they're a different beast to 1980s Liverpool and Ferguson's United. They're even more parasitic than Abramovich's Chelsea. A petro state with limitless money has built a machine that has the best training and medical facilities, the best scouts, the best football directors, the best coaches and a squad that will always have 22 starters. The same petro state also has an influence on British politics because they're a major military customer. Unlike Abramovich's Chelsea, they are stable and well oiled. They have a strangehold on all of club football like no other entity has ever had before.

My expectation is for Arteta to keep improving our points tally year on year. We should be targeting 95-99 points this season. If that tally, again, doesn't win the title then that's an indictment of English football and that it's very, very dead.
