Avoided the result all day and only just finished watching the game on delayed coverage. That was an absolutely great win given the circumstances. Defence solid as ever save for a lapse on the ball from White early on. Saliba was great covering throughout. Gabriel gets nowhere near the love that his partner does but for me is one of the best defenders in world football. No doubt in my mind. Absolute colossus at the back, imperious at set pieces on both ends of the pitch and is constantly covering for his left back. Also that's what? His 15th or 16th goal for us in the PL. Amazing.
Jorginho I felt was loose in possession and was robbed a few times that could have ended up in a goal against us if they had a better final ball and/or the defenders didn't cover so well. But it's his first minutes since the Euros so hooefully he can get the cobwebs out of his system.
Our attack wasn't really fluid given we were missing both Odegaard and Rice but we still created enough on the day to really win the game even without the set pieces. Martinelli really should have scored his chance and Havertz could have headed one of his chances into the net but both players, and indeed all our attackers, put a lot of effort on covering and tracking back so I'll forgive them for that.
Have to say I'm buzzing. Don't know how I'll get any sleep tonight.
