This ref just had an early-season rush of blood to the head, and we were unfortunately on the receiving end. A bad break for us but there's plenty of time to get good ones.

Refs here have always been more comfortable punishing technical infringements than violent ones. Not that you need me to tell you that.

On a positive note, there was a lovely moment at full time when David Raya turned to acknowledge the Clock End and was greeted with thunderous applause. I never thought I'd say it, but he's becoming a bit of a hero - largely faultless again today.

Look at how Wenger's teams were treated. Called soft in the media and refs were happy to turn a blind eye, even when players crossed the line it was largely ignored. To this day I believe Fergie encouraged it and had enough clout with refs to get them to go as soft as they could on it.

Gazza M I've quite liked Brighton the last few years but this guy is changing that. I can't wait till they are on the end of some bullshit decisions. And they will be. Mirth you know what, even the first booking was unfair. It was 50 50 and he barely touched the other guy. Throughout the entire match they had way more serious fouls on Odegaard not carded

Clrnc that was a booking and a very silly one to pick up. One of those things players get caught up in trying to make something happen losing control of the ball and then throwing themselves in to win it back. Totally shouldn't be doing that and puts you in a real difficult position as a midfielder for the rest of the game where you really need to be careful. Yes the 2nd card was ridiculously harsh and one not consistently given but if you didn't get that silly early booking your not at risk from a referee decision going against you.

Lol, let's not go to the first tackle. In that case Rice was out of control and late. That he didn't make excessive contact with the opponent is immaterial. That was a reckless play from him.

However I take your point. I've seen games where refs let those go. The risk though is you let players think they can get away with that and they begin to push the boundaries of what else might be acceptable, and with a weak/incompetent ref like Kavanaugh someone could get hurt really quickly.

Referee had a shocker. Cost us two points and a superstar. We should make noise about it for the next 2 weeks. It completely changed a game we had under control because the referee forgot his job. His job is to manage the flow of the game and prevent injury to players. He did neither in that instance. He just punished us inconsistent with his other decisions.

The first yellow was on Partey, for playing another terrible pass that put Rice into trouble. The silly rapist was in general absolutely terrible and should be replaced asap.

Is there the equivalent of a CAS or some other "neutral" forum to complain against PGMOL? Clearly that should be the league's responsibility but they don't do anything. I am envisaging something like a video montage of the game with all the snapshots of the absurd inconsistency in the refereeing being shown in this hypothetical forum to get Kavanagh off our games for good or even better out of the PL. Surely there has to be some body of that nature given the amount of money riding on such fraudulent decisions.
