Sicario2 The fact he is having limiting mins and having maximum impact speaks volumes.

That could just as easily make him a flash in the pan. Prior to this season, he showed no such scoring form. The sample size from this season is incredibly small.

Sicario2 Also, the range and quality of his goals have been ridiculously high. The balls to shoot from those angles and ranges again speaks volumes of his confidence/ability.

Again...Papiss Cisse, the guy who only scores bangers...until he doesn't score at all.

Duran may end up being top tier, I just don't think you can say that with the certainty youre expressing.

Sicario2 I tend to agree with you mostly because the array of goals he scores are so impressive and he very rarely doesn't make amazing contact with the ball. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this season turns out for him. The beauty of this hot streak off the bench happening at the start of the season is we will be able to see a much larger sample size before any team has to take a gamble on him. I definitely don't think he will be at Villa longer than 2 seasons like you said. Chelsea has to be so pissed that Gallagher turned down the swap deal because that would be an absolute steal compared to what he will likely eventually go for.

Sicario2 The new Drogba.

You know what. Havertz might be the new Drogba. Drogba wasn't all that prolific but he was a nightmare to play against and hugely important to Chelsea due to his work rate and physicality.

Qwiss I do kinda like that comparison with the exceptions that Drogba was a much better finisher and ball striker than Havertz is, while Havertz is far more versatile and has elite football intelligence. I can't see Havertz scoring some of the goals that Drogba scored (that ridiculous control and volley from 40 yards out against Everton....) or having a peak output season like Drogba did in 09/10 with 29 league goals and 10 assists. However, Drogba could really only play one position and we have already seen what Havertz can do in multiple roles. I also think the football intelligence that Havertz has is off the charts - he's been able to replicate what Odegaard has done as leader of our press with almost no adjustment period whatsoever. They both are absolute handfuls and have to be in the front of every opponent's mind due to their movement and work rates as well.

samthegooner I'd agree with most of that. I do think Kai could have an elite output season though.

Qwiss Kai will be second only to Haaland in terms of forward play this season. Haaland is in his own plane of existence.

Claudius I agree. Kai is one of if not THE first name on our team sheet these days. We don't have anyone who can closely replicate what he brings in terms of hold up play, physicality, and ability to get on the end of crosses. He's the defensive release valve as well as the focal point of our attack, combines well with midfield and wingers. He is super robust too, and very consistent in his output. I've become a huge fan.

Villa top of the league for now and pretty much at or on the threshold that will see them in the next phase in their first session back is a pretty good achievement from their opening games as well.

Lets not get too carried away with Villa.. Yes, i'll give them a good home win v Bayern.. Otherwise, they played a home game v. 12th place (with 6 draws in 8 serie A games) Bologna and Young Boys.. They still have to play Juve, Leipzig and Monaco. They will probably still make the next round though.

USArsenal I don't mean they are going to win the thing but they've not been at that level for however long as is not a given that get the results they have and the Bayern result was a big one for them as well. I remember some of the podcast reaction to our own campaign last year made the claim that because Arsenal had been out of the champions League for a bit we had to learn how to play in it again ans so applying that to villa is a pretty good position to have nearly guaranteed themselves to be in the next phase already which would be their objective.
