Either you trust the club to know what the team needs and goes after it, OR you don't. Those of us who trust the club can see that we'd identified the need for a top striker for a long time AND have gone after them. We tried to sign Suarez, Higuain, bought Lacazette, Aubameyang, Jesus, failed to sign Sesko. The club is more cognisant than you and I of what the team needs, so when club tries and fails to land a striker we/I put a pin in it because I can see we did what we could but factors didn't align to make it happen. A cursory look across the strikers that exist also highlights that we are currently in the worst striker market since records began.
People who then complain about the lack of a striker or criticise the club for not signing one, are clearly of the position that the club didn't do all it could, which is precisely why the follow-up question is, name the striker. If the club couldn't find one/land one, why do you think they should/could have? It reeks of ignorance, arrogance and egotism. because you clearly think you know better. So if you want to complain, well, let's hear it, who should we have signed? We aren't signing players from an obscure Chinese market, everyone knows who most of the strikers around are, and if you don't, just look at the top scorer lists across the top leagues.
