awooga83 But I've seen some online blogs bemoan the respective injury records for Arsenal and Liverpool which whilst true ignores the fact that when we had the good luck with our key players staying fit we couldn't close out the title but when Liverpool have it seems they will deliver it and for me that's a big problem. There is lots of variables in a season but if when you get luck behind you and running hot you can't get it over the line that is concerning
We all saw last season though. We outpointed what Liverpool are doing now and without Salah. We rolled out a 50 point second half of the season. It was massive. From a certain point of view, the only reason we're not the incumbent champions is that Guardiola's a very lucky, very stubborn prick.
One problem is that we feel like we're set up to be this unlucky, and the trouble with bad luck is that it really does hurt you. Our players have been reacting to the heroic failure last season physically and mentally, and there's no argument we've been hit several times by both injury and harsh decisions.
But Arteta's also made a system out of overusing key players, antagonising referees and avoiding high variance talents in favour of high work rate talents. It's a rigid approach that sometimes seems to tax the good luck available to us, and that semblance has been amplified by the bad luck we've had.
