There's a good chance this bloke ends up being one of my favourite players of all time if he keeps this up. Insane levels on display. Is there anything he can't do? Goalkeeping? I bet he'd make a decent fist of it there too. He also just looks and acts fucking cool; most effortlessly cool player that has graced the club since Henry probably.
You watch a whole bunch of football across a European league season, and 95% of it is a much of a muchness in the end, regardless of the country or the league: it's wingers stretching the pitch and dribbling in tight spaces, these horrid false nines everywhere who overload the area outside the box, centrebacks who too often get away with just being there, central mids who have turned sideways passing into Walmart art... just stale and boring, like the two dominating hallmarks of Guardiola's personality and football philosophy. And then you come across someone who interprets a position completely differently and plays with such clarity that it makes you wonder why everyone doesn't just do this instead.
I can't believe we already had one of these maniacs at rightback and somehow found one on the left too. Whoever scouted Timber and Calafiori should get a fat promotion.
