I haven't followed the pre season but I think we know that Zinchenko, Jesus and martinelli all looked pretty poor last season so big questions on them for this season. Also on the manager, are we going to risk going into the season without taking action to try to reduce the risk if they follow through on that form.

Well Jesus looks to be in fine condition. He’ll be ok provided he stays that way.

Martinelli might benefit from Calafiori and Merino.

Seems like we’re moving on from Zinchenko.

We play Leverkusen today. Rumours on twitter are that both Timber and Califiori are out with injuries. I wonder what type of team we will see.

RocktheCasbah Keeper should've gotten down to that one, but hey, I'll definitely take a version of Jesus who actually shoots and gets it on target at that distance.

Mirth Seen it coming, I reckon we're going to revisit the Rice–Havertz–Øde midfield more than once this season even if Merino comes in. Disappointing.

Qwiss Leverkusen don't look up to speed at all.

Don't think this can be seen as beating the outfit that went 50 matches undefeated, but we didn't just edge past them, we owned them. Good to see.

Timber's going to be in and out of the squad for a few months as he gets back up to speed. Seems like our team were proactive to protect him which I'm fine with.

Claudius he might be OK there, it's moreso about the knock-on effects it has around the team. we need a good combiner/builder in that area that helps the LB and LW tick, which doesn't come to havertz naturally.

2 great goals. Cutback from Havertz and first time strike from Zinchenko into the bottom corner, followed by lovely skill and composure from Trossard to make it 2.

Jesus makes it 3 with a strike outside the box, helped by some shit goalkeeping. He looks sharp though, hopefully he starts the season with confidence.
