@Mirth I think you're right. I envy Europeans their weekly hours. I've seen a few times the average working week is quite a bit longer in Australia.
Burnwinter thats all well and good in public service, union jobs and waged jobs but for most professionals they are still doing loads of extra hours.
samthegooner exactly and if everything is already agreed between all parties it doesn't really require him to come back early.
Qwiss It's a bit hard to speak for what others may be doing in an industry with as much variation as mine, but I'm certainly pulling six day weeks with great regularity.
Burnwinter tbf from what I understand of your job you would handily do 5 days and a regular 40 hour week here. Thats more to do with the market right now though. Anyone contracting in IT that I know has everything their own way and dictates their terms. Almost everyone is wfh 5 days a week and no overtime. Thats contracting though where you have more power. I know a lot of people in finance too, including my wife, and they are all salaried and do plenty of OT.
By the time you’ve finished reading this message the Calafiori deal will be 5 or so seconds closer to being agreed than when you started to read it!
Don Pacifico think the signs were there that this deal isn't straightforward. When you're asking his previous club to renegotiate their sell-on fee with his current club, what do you expect?
At this point, I'd actually respect us not budging on price.
Qwiss Yeah, for sure. It's a choice (but also a question of being bad at estimation and scheduling). My problem is I work across solo and team projects and juggle 2–3 at once: it leads to periods like this where everything's stacked up. My partner's asking me to scale it back a bit after this and I'll give it a try, it's trickier than you'd think.
so based on that translated tweet, real madrid are coming in for him. which, maybe thats good, because he seemed like a luxury signing anyway when central midfield and forward are bigger needs, imo
mdgoonah41 I thought that as well but last season it was very clear the LB position was problematic for us. Zinchenko good going forward but a liability in defence and then Kiwior looked a CB playing LB.
Maybe he has different plans for Timber and wants a left footed player there.
JazzG its hard to imagine what the other plan for timber would be. i guess maybe as the deepest midfielder? hes definitely not unseating saliba or white
If we had scouted him and wanted him for a while not sure why we only moved after euros...
Probably only liked him after euros I guess
If the Di Marzio excerpt is true, it sounds like we've played that quite well. Suspect we waited until after Italy got knocked out because Bologna refused to deal with us before then.
Yeah, I don't think our transfer strategy would be determined by his Euros. To be honest, if the player really is keen on Arsenal and the selling club don't have any options, playing hard ball probably is the right thing to do. Getting him in before the pre-season tour isn't worth £5m more.
sigh, time to pull the deal I think.
JazzG my god. Stop the deal
JazzG Looks half the player immediately. Not convinced about this signing any more.
JazzG having a beautiful head of hair like that and then doing this doesn't bode well for his decision making.
lots of journos corroborating. looks close to done.
