If Øde were the reference point, Smith Rowe would've been excelling on loan to a club like Villa or Dortmund. I just don't see it. We all know Smith Rowe's sky high potential, but he's injury prone and has barely played in two full seasons. He's not similar to Ødegaard or Olise. Take it with a grain of salt, but Transfermarkt reckons he's worth €22m, down from a peak of €40m (€70m Martinelli, €35m Trossard). I'll be shocked if we get £30m at this point. If we keep him, it'll be less in the future.

probably unpopular opinion but if we can't get big money for Rambo I'd rather we keep him.

banduan we should definitely keep him if we can't sell well. I feel like he's going to end up on loan though which would be a really poor use of resources given what we paid and how recently.

Feared this would happen, he's on big wages and clearly declining so not surprising a lot of clubs not in for him.

JazzG its the problem with have players over 30 on big contracts. Usually you aren't moving them on. I doubt the club ever really thought they'd sell him on for a decent sum anyway. With his injury issues its amost impossible. Think we are likely to just let him run down his deal. I've a feeling our main issue when it comes to sell to buy at the moment is the wage bill and we need to move big earners to bring in big earners.

And Saudi clubs has already mentioned they will not sign old players anymore. They are targeting young ones.

Ross Barkley is the same age and just moved for £5m. The clubs spending money aren't investing much in Partey's age bracket, that's for sure.

this makes sense. KSE spending program has been expansive and aggressive under edu and arteta, sometimes head scratchingly so. at the same time the sales have been lacklustre and the write offs have been frequent. maybe KSE are asking edu to handle the other side of the market properly before they'll allow any more spending.

Arteta is taking the piss. He doesn't play him. No way should he be allowed to keep him. Hopefully it's just a line to make them pay up.

If he was to keep him I'd like to see him actually play at left 8, cover for Ode and LW...

the trajectory of most of the hales end boys (Nelson, esr, nketiah etc) might have turned off some of the newer prospects. arteta might have trouble selling them on a path into the first team given how things have panned out for everyone's whos not named bukayo saka

Coombs United have Zirkee and Hojlund in his position. Said before I don't mind losing players to teams where they'll play. Losing them to other clubs where they haven't a chance is a real problem.

Coombs arteta did influence alot of thr hales boys into signing longterm deals, and used them less and less over time as we became more competitive. that can have ramifications for the next wave of academy players who may be less inclined to be sold on the path into the first team. united are midtable/europa dreck at the moment, and are investing in youth. they could make a more compelling case for giving minutes to young players at the moment

It's exactly that. The players who left like Omari Hutchinson didn't get a route into Chelsea's first team, either. He was sold a year or two later. So he wasn't sold on a route to first team football, so what is left aside from money?
