Thought Mainoo got a bit shown up yesterday, I think he has been massively overhyped anyway. He is a great talent but imo not starting quality. As Clrnc says Walker was appalling yesterday. Defensively coped with Williams in the 1st half but looked a bit brain dead in the 2nd half.
Palmer and Watkins both did ok with the minutes they got, it should be said it is easier to come on later in games when the opposition are tired but you can only work with the minutes you have and they both did well.
The whole media going after Harry Kane today but the biggest flop by far, and it isn't even close, was Phil Foden. Completely ruined the balance of the team and played shit on top, getting a complete pass from the mainstream media as usual. Even the the formation was changed to try and help and apart from one half against Holland Foden was shit.
Kane is not a mobile No.9 that people think, he plays more like a 10 and needs players running off him. His best performances for England have come with the likes of Rashford and Sterling, so you gotta play to his strengths. This is where Foden fucked things up because ideally you'd want a runner in his position.
England need to find a solution for CM and their front three. Ideally a manager who isn't as conservative as Southgate as well.
For Spain I thought Zubimendi looked really good when he came on, they didn't miss Rodri one bit. You can see why he is highly thought of by Arteta and Alonso. A shame he doesn't want to leave Spain. Spanish team were on another level, it was quite obvious throughout the match England were not on that level. . England were only winning if they got jammy but Spain deservedly won the tournament. Had such balance about them, player for player you'll find better sides but the system they had set up was perfect for the players they had. Two wide boys in particular lit up the tournament.
Gazza M olmo is a player that keeps flying under the radar, but he's been a class player for the last 3-4 years. maybe because he's not a typical spanish midfielder. not surprised to see city being heavily linked
I think it is his injury record that puts a lot of clubs off. Superb player though.
