I really like the look of Matt O'riley. I think there's a huge bargain to get at there. Complete midfielder, superb box 2 box and his left foot is something else.

I've seen a lot of articles claiming he has a €50m release clause. Others say it is increasing, to 65 now and maybe more later. Weird, maybe it is indexed to performance somehow. Or maybe it's just BS.

Would strike me as more of an option type signing than a needle mover but given Kai's form I don't necessarily think that'd be a bad thing, it'd give him time to bed into the team, learn Arteta's demands and develop as a player.

£40m-£50m is ok to pay for someone talented, I think we should be able to move Eddie on for around £40m so would be a near enough straight swap. Now is the time to try bag talent like that because in a couple years time these players could go for £100m.

I just hope this signing is in addition to where we are really short, like CB. CM and wide player.

What are our weak points in the starting lineup and our points of failure should injury occur?

Weak point is that entire left side. Critical failure point is probably still Saliba, and possibly Odegaard and/or Saka.

Our team build should address question 1 and then 2. Hopefully solving Q1 alleviates some of Q2

Claudius weak points in order LB, DM, ST/LW. Points of failure CM, CB, RW. You can solve all the points of failure by strengthening our weak points well. If you get a truly brilliant ST or LW it makes missing Saka less of an issue. If you get another top CM, say Bruno G/FDJ/Zubi then you can manage a Rice or even Ode injury better. With LB if you get someone in then you have the option of sliding things around where you can use White, Tomi, etc at CB.

Agree with this. I think if we can't get Sesko at the right price though instead of sticking with Jesus we should take another cheap risk up top, you can even keep Jesus as Saka back up then you are well covered. I think there is definitely space there to try and bring through a striker. Then again would Arteta actually sub Havertz out and give the new striker minutes? Hard to know.

I'd be happy with that, the only player available now who imo would be an improvement on Havertz is Osimhen. I don't think we will be in for him as there are rumours his agent wants a massive commission and the player wants massive wages.

With us having options up top even if the player needs a couple years to really hit top form we can ease him in.

Would be typical of us but someone like Eddie should not be going for less than £30m but ideally between £35m-£40m. Homegrown player and not good enough for the elite clubs but defo a PL striker.

25yr old with 19 goals in 100 PL games, on 100k a week, is never going to go for £40m.

Our chance of getting a great fee evaporated after he stopped scoring since his hattrick.

Those 100 games aren't starts. He's English, good age, fast, U21 goal scoring record holder, great finisher, etc He's definitely worth more than £15m-£20m. There is always some excuse for our shit sales.

Yeah, no way we're getting £40m for Eddie. £30m is very much the upper end of what's possible I reckon but much more likely to be round the £20m mark.

Ok £40m is probably a bit high but he's PL proven, home grown and I honestly think for a bottom half PL club he can be a 10-15 PL goal scorer. It is a lot harder scoring for top clubs as teams sit so deep but for other teams I think he could thrive. Also when you look at the market strikers go for crazy money and there aren't many available.

Maybe, I just don't have any confidence in our negotiating team being able to achieve that. Plus, as goon said, not helped by his silly wages, which we all knew would come back to bite us in the ass when it eventually came to moving him (new management, same old problems!).

DiabyKungFu those wages would make him the top/one of the top earners in a lot of midtable/bottom half clubs. I'd consider that a bit silly as he's not going to go to any of those places as the star man.

Meatwad Not always. Just to give a few examples off the top of my head Danny Ings and Benteke played at Liverpool and did much better at other clubs. I don't know if he'll be prolific but there have always been good strikers like Darren Bent and Defoe, these guys did well for less clubs but never could cut it at top clubs.

Look at Lacazette for us, an absolute bum but goes back to France and is fucking competing with Mbappe for top scorer.

Meatwad so why do so many midtable strikers score well in their teams but flop at big clubs? A lot more common than the reverse.
