Covid reall fucked them, but that season they won, they started on an unprecedented 82 of 87 possible points before Covid shutdown. Either side of that season, they lost to City. The season before, they lost 99 to 98, and then the following season they lost 86 to 69.
City is the only team that keeps racking up high totals. Even when Liverpool has challenged, they’ve lost on very high point totals and yo-yo’d to very low point totals due to injuries to star players.
And no other team has been in the picture except us the last 2 seasons. There is nothing normal about what City is doing. It’s simply due to the density of star players they have which allows them to absorb form and health challenges. Saliba or Salah goes down, and lesser teams are impacted. Haaland goes down, and City are resilient.
We spend too much time talking about rotation of players at the end of your roster who are worthless to a title run - like Nelson and ESR. That’s not where titles are won. It’s all the £50m and £100m players at the top of your roster who win you titles. And City has the best composition.
