We need to work on transition. Until midway through second half, it felt like every ball we lost turned into a shot. We just had no answer.

The way Kiwior was turned on the penalty incident was comical. From there, everybody is just chasing their tails. 2 more players fly in before Saliba penalty

Burnwinter the thing is Saka didn't hang out a leg intentionally. Look at how he often check back, he likes to jump to stop his movement immediately for a shot. It was a natural movement made to look unnatural because Neuer was determined to block him

Clrnc I saw it in real time and in slow motion from the "bad" angle, and that's how it looked: like Saka had hung his leg out. One way or another, the situation has to look better to improve the chance of a major call.

I remember how the bent call against Van Persie in Barcelona felt and that was on a completely different, outrageous level for me.

Burnwinter I also felt live in the stadium with no replay that Saka was playing for the penalty rather then trying to go for goal which personally I want a player to do.. If it's on the opposition I dislike it as well make a genuine attempt to finish the chance and you probably get brought down and it looks more organic. I haven't seen replays but that's what I felt seeing it live that he was not trying to score but trying to make the penalty so I can see the ref coming to a similar safe decision at the end.

My main take away from this game is we aren't ready for top level champions League football just yet. Not yet experienced enough. Maybe another season

flobaba Another take away is that we have seen how poor Porto and Bayern is and yet we made a meal of it.

But then you see the goals City and Real scored in the other match. Absolutely different level from us. We are not beating any of those teams over 2 legs.

I don't know how we are going to survive by just pure defending over 180 mins in a late season match where most of our players looked tired. We have probably better chance against Real but the way Rodrygo and Vini are playing, and then I see how just Sane and Gnabry threaten us today I just shudder to think

Claudius I think we've shown that we can play and try to nullify city but not score against them. The goal we did get for the win was a lucky break but outside of that we find it equally difficult to score against those sides. Our win was nice but in reality that could have been a draw and would have been fair.

Anyways surely we can only play better in the second leg. We were so sloppy tonight and Arteta will have learnt from the match.

Glad someone else is finally noticing this. He takes a solid half dozen matches to get back up to speed each time he returns from injury and it's getting longer.

goon He was just too clever for his own good with the pen call, focusing too much on how Saka went down rather than the actual foul.

Meatwad mentioned the players focusing on the badge but in that moment the ref was as well. It’s not easy to give a pen against Bayern Munich with the last kick of the game
