Gutting, he lasted longer then I thought possible to be honest so we got that but any change risks them getting better and I don't want that. Thomas Frank being linked which would not be great.

the problem is clearly above the manager level, so it probably doesnt matter who they hire, the dysfunction will filter down to the manager, similar to what is happening at chelsea

people were panicking when chelsea hired potter because he was a bright star with huge upside and who now had unlimited resources at chelsea. he didnt even last a year.

when you take over at a chelsea or man united, you become a supporting character in the insanity charade.

That he's gone now just shows you how stupid they were to keep him to begin with. Their cup final win was a a miracle really - a bit like us beating Chelsea in 2017. They were blinded by the miracle.

When you consider how fucking hilarious Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Solskjaer and Rangnick have all been at United (did I miss anyone?) you realise how truly Olympian the sheer level of banterology delivered by Erik week in week out has been.

Ten Hag's been like the Mohammad Ali of terrible United managers. Admittedly there's the factor of recency bias and it's hard for me personally to think clearly through the sadness of his departure, but it's hard to imagine anyone ever doing it better at this moment.

Clrnc I think it was similar in that for the entirety of that season, Chelsea were a comfortably superior side (in the same way that that was true last season for the Manchester clubs). I don't think many of us (certainly not me) went into that final expecting much.

We absolutely did, you're right. But that wasn't what I meant. What I meant was it was a miracle that we played like we did against Chelsea given how shit our league form was that season.

And I wouldn't say United executed a smash and grab by any means in this cup final, City didn't really turn up.

I did. When it comes to FA Cup finals, always thunk we'll win, no matter how shit we are anywhere else. We always turn up and do enough to win it against whatever odds we may face.
