TambourineMan my worry is the players not having the belief/energy to do this a third time after two consecutive "failures".

Especially this season, where we have been pretty excellent. It must be exhausting to put that much in and come away with nothing.

I fucking hope we do it.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert that would be weird by them. Last year was their first title push, and they really got done by double injury to Saliba/Tomi and an inexperienced coach. This is a better, deeper team. They should have a different resolve.

Ok performance, enough to get the job done. We looked a bit disjointed but a few of those guys have hardly played this season so not entirely unexpected either.

Ideally would have loved to have smashed them but getting Partey, Zinchenko and ESR some good quality minutes probably even more important. Partey in particular will be invaluable if we can get him physically up to speed sooner rather than later. We have a lot of games in a very short period of time so we need to make use of our squad or we will run out of

JazzG no need to smash. These players chased around Rodri for 90 minutes on Sunday. A restful game was probably more important than anything.

IBL Can't help but think he's internalised whatever shambles occurred with England as motivation and in the best possible way. It's also great to see him stepping up like this in the wake of his contract extension.

Claudius Nelson was a real disappointment. He started off looking hungry but he just seems to lack intensity most of the time. Its hard to judge him too much because he's played so little first team football but he needs to move on because he'll never reach his real level playing 300 minutes a season for us. Probably needed another load at some stage despite having plenty, a PL loan would have been the real test for him.

Qwiss I just don’t see it with Nelson. He’s always been too timid whenever he’s had a chance in the first team.

Qwiss he’s getting on now. No need to loan. Sell. The only issue is freaking mertesacker hasn’t been pumping out players. The guys everyone calls legit are 17 years old. So they aren’t ready to replace Nelson/Nketiah, meaning we need to into the market.

But was really encouraged by ESR. He’s clearly far from the level physically but the intrinsics are off the charts

If we could somehow combine Nketiah's attitude and Nelson's ability we'd have a player on our hands.

Nelson was timid but I actually thought it was evidence that he wouldn't be a liability and can be trusted to slot in. He tracked back, didn't give the ball away, combined quite well and although he missed he got into a great position to score.

He needs to sort his pressing game out, that Ode press trigger didn't work because Nelson was often too slow or simply not there to keep the press going.
