This doesn't seem hugely surprising. I was curious if the Eze chatter was a reaction to Nwaneri contract negotiations. Regardless of whether he signs an extension, signing both Rodrygo and Eze would most likely effectively end Nwaneri's Arsenal career. For what it's worth, I think (hope) we just don't sign Eze and we extend Nwaneri.

Eze and Nwaneri shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. Play Nwaneri as Saka back up - there will be plenty of games. Eze can be Ode backup and Lw back up. Sell Tross/Mart. Done.

The idea that Nwaneri should shut up and just do whatever the club says is ridiculous too. He has one career and if Arteta is signing people ahead of him he's right to be concerned. He's too good to be treated like a typical 18 year old. Our path to greatness is through guys like him reaching their best. The idea that we'll sign projects like Madueke or Sesko for huge money but won't commit to Ethan is crazy. No excuses like injury this time. If the club fails Ethan then it's a failure overall

Gazza M Different ways to look at it. The club have clearly been trying for a while to extend and maybe they know/think the player is running down his contract. Even last time it was hard work to get him to sign a contract.

Madueke is a LW and I don't think Nwaneri is, he's played there because Saka was injured but that isn't his best position. He is more an 8/10. Apart from Odegaard we don't have another 10 in the squad (Vieira will be sold off imo) so he should be targetting those minutes.

It’s all speculation but if he needs assurances regarding game time after making more appearances at his age than Saka or Messi did, then I don’t know how much the club would be at fault.

Think the playing time narrative can only be regarded as agent talk. Given his age, Nwaneri's had a proper breakout season and will surely feature in Arteta's plans.

The main issue for him is learning to play a more influential role and that's his responsibility: he should be targeting becoming Ødegaard's understudy as much as Saka's but he doesn't quite have it in him yet. Better him than Vieira, who's back in the mix after Porto happily let him return from loan.

Reading between the lines of all of the reporting this summer, I'm 95% sure that Nwaneri has told the club (through his agent during these contract talks) that he doesn't want to play on the wing and he only wants to play in midfield. So Madueke is unrelated (or, if anything, appeasing) to Nwaneri. It's the Eze signing that people should be freaking out about.

I still think he'll sign with us, we have secured MLS and that will be key in his decision making. Probably just pushing shit out to try and get the best deal they can.

if he wants to go to chelsea because there isn't a pathway at arsenal then boy do i have a bridge to sell in brooklyn. it would clearly be about money. let me read a tweet that says dortmund and then i'll know this person is serious about football. back when he was doing this will he or won't he stuff a few years ago i posted how i valued MLS's more uncommon skillset than ethan. while a top attacker is the most valued, it's harder to become one. ethan and max have skill and position overlap. year after year it's someone like them.

like dude calm down, put your head down and get to work. MLS is in the senior team and you're not even a starter for the U21 and you want a better pathway than getting actual games at arsenal? you almost had double figure goals last season in 37 games. it's much too early to be obsessing about money. i'm sure we're talking about 5k a week difference and not double.

Qwiss He’s played over 40 games for us last season, how much more faith does he require? We shipped off Vieira last summer to make sure he had a clear path into the squad.

The day this club start having 18 year old kids dictate how we move forward or our transfer policy is the day we are finished. Arteta and management will decide how we move forward not Nwaneri or his agent and I’m sure Arteta sees him in our future and has outlined this and his pathway into our first XI. He’s 18 years old, not a 24 year old who still isn’t getting games. MLS has signed a new contract and we showed plenty of faith in him. Nwaneri simply is not as far advanced as him which is why he won’t get as many games.

I also think this is mainly his agent being a shit stirrer and not entirely convinced this is how the player feels. The timing of this story coinciding with our links to Noni are sus, Nwaneri’s future is at 8/10 not a wide player so they’re not even competing for the same spot.
