Those things are most likely linked.

We're fortunate in that Lewis Skelly and Nwaneri came into the team at roughly the same time. Lewis Skelly made himself a mainstay and has become pretty much undroppable. Nwaneri, for some reason, couldn't. Might be attitude, might be what Arteta sees on the pitch, might be how he trains. But it's something he needs to work out.

To add to what Jazz just said, he might just not be physically ready in the was Lewis Skelly is. Could just be a timing/development/growth issue.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert Nobody has forgotten, G/A every 125 mins for a 17/18 years is serious numbers at the top level. He just needs time to bulk up physically and we need to keep managing his minutes.

MLS looks a freak in that respect, the boy is 18 and outmuscling grown men. Nwaneri just turned 18 and some people physically mature later in life.

He didn't start getting regular league minutes until around February. Bit much to complain in June that his development has stalled.

Nwaneri was getting muscle injuries once he began starting games. The fitness demanded in the PL is absolutely immense. I think it is just a physical issue. He will play a lot of RW next season.

CPM I wouldn't mind him being Sakas back up in the league and Odegaards alternate for the domestic cups next year. Think that'd give him plenty of room to develop and make a case for himself.

Backing up Saka would be a misuse of his talent and potentially develop bad habits as he doesn’t have the speed to excel out wide on the touchline. He should be kept as Odegaard’s understudy and buy a talented winger to develop under Saka.

daredevil what do you mean by bad habits? Also I think his pace is underrated.

Sure, long term I don't want him as a "winger". Hopefully we see him start to get proper minutes in either 8 spot this season.

daredevil I disagree. Sakas time as LB did him no harm. I want to see him get good minutes and I don't think its really worthwhile signing a depth player on the RW when we have Nwaneri there who can take those minutes and do a good job. He did it this season and looked very dangerous. Plus he has real end product from there. Arteta doesn't really play in a way that has a spot that suits Ethans natural position anyway so whether he's playing 8 or RW its not the 10 that suits him best so you just get on with it. He's a smart player and I think he'll do a good job in either position. Don't see him having any pace issues either.

Klaus he's got a bit of the Rosicky about him too. Always pushing forward, always accelerating our attacking play. I love this kid, he's going to be massive.

This lad plays like he has Brazilian genes. The touch, close control and movement is just astounding. He gets the ball and immediately moves into the centre where things are most congested - and thrives. Holy shit what a compilation.

Klaus yeah he’s pretty good. The big highlight of the season from the academy set up was Myles though. That kid is something special. Plays with a maturity and personality well beyond his age, in a position that is very difficult to master. See if you can find some of his highlights as well.

flobaba yeah, I was hugely impressed the first time I saw him in a clip of Cozier Duberry scoring for us but the standout from that goal was MLS getting the ball almost at RB and taking the ball 60 yards dribbling past bodies like they weren't there and then setting up Cozier Duberry.

anyone else concerned there may have been a disciplinary run-in? the way his minutes rapidly evaporated doesn't seem like he was just being protected physically

Gazza M don't think so. Don't know about injuries/concerns about his physical state, but he was clearly no longer as effective towards the end of his appearances, once teams sussed out that they needed to cover his trademark left footed finesse shooting. My theory is he wasn't as in tune with the automatisms as Arteta wants. (I would often observe him run into other players spaces unwittingly and then try to readjust causing a loss of momentum). He also held on to the ball a bit too long frequently.

Soon as Saka/Odegaard returned Arteta was always going to ride his favorite horses again. Cos that's what he does, and also, perhaps, to shield the player from the pressure of the end of season run in.

Qwiss Been watching comps all day. He seems like he's a miracle cure for static, boring football.

Has he ever played as a striker? His movement seems perfect for a #9 and he knows where the goal is. Would love to know what he'd look like if he got to study under a proper goalscorer for a few years.

He was dropped the minute Saka was back. Arteta will never rest Saka no matter who he has as back up. He is just too important to the team.
