HomeSteak What would he have learned in 4 months that is so important?
So why did we even bother to send him on loan right? Why does anyone bother loaning out their players?
Do you think that with the level of talent Arsenal have judged Ethan to have, we would just send him to any old club anywhere to play football? That would barely require a negotiation. There were likely loads of clubs sniffing around him, possibly even premiership clubs. As detailed as we have been told Arteta is, we probably had his daily bed time outlined plus list of preferred nightly Tonies.
We would want a place where we can continue to mold him into our version and vision for the player. Somewhere he would consistently be used in and encounter certain scenarios. Scenarios where we want him to be able to figure things out faster and make decisions more efficiently under less hectic and physical conditions. Our goal would have been clearly laid out, with the intention being to provide opportunity for him to blossom. Nurturing young players is a skill - not something to be taken for granted and definitely not one that is adequately on offer everywhere. Stability is important. Connection with the manager is super important. 4 months can impact the trajectory of a (struggling) players career significantly.
I wish him luck.
