Good thing is the the club is incentivised to play him more otherwise they end up paying us more. We're good either way, but personally I'd rather forego the extra money if it means quality minutes and development for him.

These are tough but good lessons for Nwaneri. The beauty of these moments coming on loan is we dodge him blaming our players, manager or club.

The Marseillais media are saying harsh things, but there's hardly any shame in getting picked apart by PSG's world class midfield, even if at the same time the situation evidences why Nwaneri wasn't starting for Arsenal.

If the primary aim was game time we could have loaned him to any random old club. Arteta was clear about wanting him to work with De Zerbi. No guarantees that the new manager will have the same ideas / philosophy or prioritize Nwaneri’s development and minutes. A destabilized team or organization isn’t where anyone talk less of a young, uncertain player wants to be.

flobaba I think it's all media spin about Marseille being the perfect club because of de Zerbi etc. Ultimately, Nwaneri (and the club) wanted him to get experience in a serious league and that's what he's getting. That it's not been straightforward can also be a learning experience for him because chances are, his career and the fortunes of Arsenal aren't always going to go exactly to play. It's all character building.

Contra this, De Zerbi is a livewire who was clearly in chaos and on the brink, so the new manager will bring a fraction of breathing space and fewer preconceptions. It's Marseille there's no reason to think they're about to appoint Tony Pulis.

I'm in Don and Steaky's camp on this, this loan is all about minutes and a sabbatical in a foreign country to grow up a bit.
