Sicario2 This is what I wish Arteta would do too. No Merino up front against Spurs. Go with the guy who actually moves like a forward and challenges people.

He will break down in no time if he plays up front. It's the most unforgiving position on the pitch and Gyokeres is the latest casualty. Merino doesn't press or run as a forward and perhaps that will offer him some longevity.

The structure of the team looked neater once he came in. Seemed to knit things together a bit better than Odegaard

I'm really disappointed with how Arteta is playing (or not playing) our young guns this term. Very disappointed. Last season was a breakthrough for both MLS and Nwaneri and they showed they could handle the pressure of the premier league, albeit with a few instances of let's call it growing pains, but that's to be expected. We signed them on to long term contracts and then, basically never hear from them again? That's exactly how you fuck up a kids confidence and development arc. Then when everyone is broken again you put them on and expect them just to kick on from where they left off. Things don't work this way. The squad we've built is exposing Arteta's man/squad management skills as inadequate. These guys aren't simply Carling / FA Cup material. And then every now and then he'll bring in a Salmon for dead minutes in the champions league, as if he's doing something.

We need to do better.

I think it's great that we aren't in any position to be relying on MLS and Nwaneri this season. Both are kids and both are going to wildly fluctuate in form. If we didn't sign Hincapié and Eze, we definitely would be further down the table.

They're teenagers, we're in trouble if they're starting every week while chasing trophies.

But no one has called for them to be starting every week, have they? Regular subs to help see games out might be a start. Except control ball hardly lets us have that luxury where we are so comfortably ahead that we can afford to let them on (and Arteta doesn't trust them to do the job to see out a game).

Especially Nwaneri in a season where we have creativity issues.

flobaba Nwaneri is insanely secure too, his passing has been more reliable than most of the squad this season, rarely loses the ball. I've no idea why he's playing so little. Needs to be on loan if Arteta won't use him.

Burnwinter I don't think there is anything that Arteta loves more then hording players, he will not leave on loan. He will just stay on the bench.

The way he's using (or not using) Nwaneri is a really blot on Artetas copybook for me. This is a generational talent we have and he deserves better.
