Pepe LeFrits sincerely thought Philips was the better player. Even looking back at England euros 2020 matches Philips was much better. Rice was a very conservative DM that did nothing of note.

Pepe LeFrits it took me until the 2021/22 season to realise he was a proper player in the making, and not merely the new English hype job as I had him pegged.

I know we all want more from him in terms of progressiveness with the ball, but man, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching his work off the ball. the way he squeezes, presses and times his challenges is an art form in and of itself. his defensive range has made us even more suffocating with our press

Rice was great yesterday but I still want someone in the summer who compliments his skills so he has more freedom to get himself about the pitch. If we could get someone like Zubimendi it'd be ideal.

Qwiss he's extremely extremely consistent. He don't have much swag to his game but just super stable and constantly 7/10s and above in every game.

He has the grind of Parker, the tackle of Keane, a consistent passing ability like Henderson and his shooting is above average, not Gerrard/Lampard level but maybe someone like Barry. Just superb all rounder. His ball carrying ability is unique, can't find another English player that did that as good as him

Clrnc yep. And he's pretty good in the air and very smart at plugging gaps. If we can get someone with a bit more guile alongside him in midfield then we'll go up another level. As we said last week someone like Jorginho who can also run about. I'd really like someone like Zubimendi who has the playmaking ability and the ability to dictate the tempo but also can operate at the base of the midfield or as an 8, it gives you real tactical options without changing the line up as Rice can play both too.

Interesting that Arteta has tweaked our playing style. For the better in my opinion. It is clear from both the Liverpool game and this one that we deliberately are looking for longer balls either in behind the defense, or to put Martinelli in one v one situations. Makes us less predictable, we look more dangerous, and we are more fun to watch.
Great game from us. I would consider keeping Trossard as first choice for that number 9 role even when Jesus is back.
