all of elons moves relating to Twitter were to help swing an election and ultimately buy a presidency. there really nothing heroic about what he's done with the platform. he has already engaged his own partisan censorship regime in recent weeks, which will only worsen over time. anyone that bought into his marketing campaign presenting himself as some neutral free speech champion has either been conned, or quietly agrees with a revenge tour as long as it's their team thats in control. there's only so long people can dine out on pointing fingers at dorseys twitter before they have to start contending with the abuses of power of the man in charge now

Yeah this is really no suprise the tech companies and the CEOs have no interest in social responsibility as soon as they can they want to dump all that and get back to making as much money as possible and leaving everybody else with the consequences. It's why I dread their like overseeing AI.

awooga83 I'll need to find you a link but from memory classified State Department documents suggest that is where it originated from. I don't think anyone is suggesting China released it on purpose but it seems likely it originated from there.

When I did a search to try to see the story it seemed to suggest it had not been possible to say if it was lab or naturally originating. There was a BMJ article that stated 'The consensus among scientists is that, although a lab leak origin is possible, the scientific evidence points to a natural, zoonotic origin from wild animals.' which would suggest to me it's still very much uncertain at the moment.

US oversight committee I think concluded that or believe that was likely it came from a lab. I mean there could be political bias there and I haven't really read their report. China have not been particularly transparent either there is also a lot of reluctance from a lot of countries to speak up as they don't want to fall out with the Chinese over this. WHO came out and called for China to be more transparent the other week again.

awooga83 My point is more people should be open to say these things without being censored. I haven't used Facebook in about 15 years now but from reading around it looks like a few of their fact checkers had a bias about them. I don't like everything Elon has done with Twitter but the community notes feature is definitely one positive, you regularly see politicians being called out for their BS in real time!
