Mirth I don't really believe this idea that they European countries opted to look out for themselves seriously, I'm sure they considered it but to actually look out for yourself would require a major overhaul in a lot of their policies. The EU has become a giant bureaucratic millstone holding the whole continent back. I mean just look at the energy policies across Europe which are deindustrialising the continent at a rapid rate and leaving us all more vulnerable. Did the US pressure them into that as well?
This is a choice they have made, no doubt under huge US pressure but that is where you need leaders to actually make tough decisions and not hide behind excuses. Right now there is nothing they can do and whatever the US asks of them they'll have to comply but surely at some point the penny needs to drop?
