Coombs this is exactly what the US is under trump he idolises Putin and a world where the strong are respected and anyone else is weak to be forcefully brought to heal. Trump is fully unhinged but there seemed to be nothing in the US that can do anything about it.

Most countries have 3 options:

Develop military and economic might comparable to the United States. Impossible for anyone at a global scale - maybe China who are unproven. The likes of Russia/India/EU aim to have limited power in their own regional spheres.
Ally more closely with revisionist powers like China. This hedges your bets but only works as long as the US attention is elsewhere. Mainly the Global South.
Go along with the ride. You’ve tacitly supported the US for half a century now. Things are more overt but you may as well enjoy the nominal benefits as your country more explicitly becomes a vassal state. Applies to most of Europe and West adjacent allies.

Stop dancing around the main reasons here. The US wants control over South American Oil. They dont care about Venezuelans or even the puppets they put in place to replace the regime they just took out. They've already taken control in Guyana and now with Venezuela they have a huge amount of oil reserves to sit on.
