That's the main thing you can look like a good team all you want but if that means you don't win matches or deliver trophies it's totally meaningless and will be the butt of jokes. Spurs looked impressive for a little while but they couldn't deliver any real success in trophies.

For me this season we really need to win a trophy I think we are at that point now given 4 years into this manager. If we don't and things go as they are looking we should be considering what's next for the club that gets us to what we should be aiming for.

We don’t have a striker that gives us what we need, Saka needs to be refreshed. We’ve buggered up the left hand side by persisting with Martinelli, thus demotivating, and seeing Trossard and Nelson move out of the form they were showing.

odegaard is fluff - seems to drift out to the right a lot, so why not try him out there and gives us something different centrally.

Missed the match but sounds like we were all over them for a lot of that game and missed enough chances in the first half to finish the game off. In games against top sides we simply can't carry on like this, simply have to take your chances.

There are *some similarities between now and 3 years ago, but I don't think we're quite as bad as we were over that autumn/winter period now. Back then, we looked like a genuinely awful football team, utterly without hope, whereas I don't think you can say that now. Genuinely awful football teams don't create the volume of chances we have over the last 2 home games.

That being said, I am very much here for part two of the Emile Smith Rowe rescue act. I hope we get to see it soon.

I still think that model is far too simplistic. The everything is actually fine because of the chances but points to quite a few times where we could have made better passes to increase the chance for a forward.

Equally if you believe in looking at the dates Havertz it's never going to be a goal scorer so putting him up top is a mistake he's never shown regular goalscoring as his attribute in any way of consistent manner since he's been in England. But that is not mentioned just that he gets in the right positions goals are inevitable well I don't buy that it makes no account of the type of player getting on the chance and what they do if they hesitate or take extra touches that's not luck it's poor execution of a technical skill.

Yeah, I agree.

I think the varying attitude to this question is more about the degree of urgency felt than the understanding of what's occurring.

If you're this writer, or perhaps @Claudius (sorry for taking your name in vain, mate), then you're okay with how we're going because "what Arsenal are doing is a more sustainable predictor of future success" … I'm not cool with that as I think the playing group on which the "underlying numbers" depend has cost a fortune to put together and probably only endures another couple of seasons—which must not be trophyless.
