Neither of Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Ödegaard or Havertz are real, proper goal scorers. Saka and Martinelli, possibly also Ödegaard, may improve to become more reliable goal scorers, but IMO they certainly aren't there yet. I also don't expect that any of them will ever become volume goal scorers. Collectively these players over performed last season in terms of goal scoring, and for most of this season we have under performed. To new levels, unfortunately, over the last few games.
Fulham was just an overall poor performance. However, I think our system worked really well for us both against West Ham and Liverpool. In the sense that our system created us several top, top chances. The rest is down to players putting the ball in the back of the net, and our front players just aren't very good at it. A prolific striker, who at the same time won't fuck up the rest of our play, would do wonders. I think it would solve most of our goal scoring woes actually, because it would also take a bit of pressure of the likes of Saka, Ödegaard and Martinelli.
Basically, I think our system is fine. I actually think we are overall better this year than last year. We are more boring in the sense that we create fewer chances, but we are for the most part more solid defensively. This chasing of goals in itself has contributed to quite a few conceded goals too. We need a more prolific first choice striker though.
